Seating: 1950, VIP seats: 1) It was fairly windy and cold on the field when Mpenza Miti kicked off to start the match. Johannes Mayoyo showed brilliant goalkeeper skills when he caught the ball after a hard shot from Nelson Mandela in the 6th minute of the match. In the 12th minute, one of F.C Catalunya:s players had the ball in front of the goal but got pushed and fell. The referee felt it was an obvious case and blew a penalty for F.C Catalunya. Sibongile Mokhasi went to the wrong direction when Alpheus Qabi was taking care of the penalty kick which however missed the goal. After some fancy dribbling in the 27th minute, Sibongile Sephiri managed to get in a good position for a shot. FC lions's supporters rose to their feet, but Sibongile Sephiri was a bit off balance and shot the ball just wide of the left post. Sibongile Mokhasi breathed a sigh of relief and went to take the goal kick. After 28 played minutes F.C Catalunya got a freekick which was hit by Terence Thabang. If Mpenza Miti had kept his shot down it would have been a goal in the 33rd minute. The ball went over the crossbar and out instead. The audience was convinced that Mpenza Miti's extremely hard shot when he got free in front of the goal was going in, but Sibongile Mokhasi was relentless in the 39th minute of the game. Sibongile Mokhasi made a fantastic save in the 47th minute, when Sibongile Sephiri sent off a good shot on target.
The wind increased when Nelson Mandela made the kick off in the second half. Sibongile Sephiri received a nice pass in the box and took a hard shot in the 53rd minute. Sibongile Mokhasi tensed up and prepared to dive, but the shot went over the goal with him having to interfere. The referee felt a red card was in order, 55 minutes into the game, when Takalani Madiba put in a rough tackle. In the 55th minute, one of F.C Catalunya:s players had the ball in front of the goal but got pushed and fell. The referee felt it was an obvious case and blew a penalty for F.C Catalunya. The referee gave FC lions a penalty, 57 minutes into the game. The penalty shot was made by Alpheus Qabi, who made a well placed shot into the net to the right of F.C Catalunya's Sibongile Mokhasi. 1-0. When Mpenza Miti came up free with the goalie in the 61st minute, the FC lions fans jumped to their feet. But the shot missed the goal by a fraction of an inch, and the fans sat back down disappointed that Mpenza Miti couldn't finish the play. 65 minutes into the match, F.C Catalunya's goal looked a bit too open when Sibongile Sephiri came free, but Sibongile Mokhasi reached the ball before it rolled over the goal line. In the 70th minute Mpenza Miti shot on, it seemed, an open goal, but Sibongile Mokhasi saw the ball coming and threw himself on it before it passed the goal line. Shaheed Mabele kicked well hit freekick during the 71st minute of the match. If Sibongile Sephiri had kept his shot down it would have been a goal in the 73rd minute. The ball went over the crossbar and out instead. Thabile Mkhize got the audiences attention when, from a short distance, he fired away a great shot in the 77th minute of the game. The shot hit the left post and bounced out. Jocob Takane's late challenge caught a F.C Catalunya's player on the shin and left him crawling around in pain. The referee blew his whistle and produced the yellow card. Jocob Takane helped the player get up and apologised. After 80 played minutes FC lions got a freekick which was hit by Jocob Takane. Thabile Mkhize fired away a screaming shot towards the goal in the 82nd minute, but the shot went just over the crossbar without Johannes Mayoyo having to interfere. In the 86th match minute, F.C Catalunya was awarded a freekick, the ball was picked up by Thabile Mkhize to maneuver through the defense. F.C Catalunya's Thabile Mkhize got a good chance for a goal in the 88th minute, but he totally mistimed the shot and it went over the crossbar. Alpheus Thobejane might have been able to make a better finish in the 90th minute when he tried to place a hard shot over Johannes Mayoyo. Instead the ball went over the crossbar and out. Alpheus Thobejane ran back to his position shaking his head. Mpenza Miti fired away a screaming shot towards the goal in the 93rd minute, but the shot went just over the crossbar without Sibongile Mokhasi having to interfere. Sibongile Mokhasi took care of the ball after a well-directed shot from Sibongile Sephiri, even though the ball almost passed him on his left side. Thanks to some nice foot action and superb ball handling Sibongile Sephiri in the 95th minute a chance for a shot on goal. With an extended leg and a bit of luck Sibongile Mokhasi prevented the ball from getting in the gole. Mpenza Miti blasted a shot towards the goal in the 96th minute, but the shot hit the top of the crossbar and went out without Sibongile Mokhasi having to make a save. The referee blew his whistle, and the match came to a close. The players exchanged shirts and headed down the tunnel. The FC lions fans cheered their team off the field, for while F.C Catalunya had put up a good fight, they were unable to come out of the game with any points to show for their effort.
