The crowd had been anticipating this game for weeks and the excitement in the stadium was easily visible. Takalani Manyethela took a chance and fired a shot far from the goal in the 22nd minute, but it turned out to be a dangerous situation for Maseti Qabi. In the 23rd minute Thami Klaasens shot on, it seemed, an open goal, but Maseti Qabi saw the ball coming and threw himself on it before it passed the goal line. Nick Mokhasi blasted a shot towards the goal in the 25th minute, but the shot hit the top of the crossbar and went out without Sizwe Bartlett having to make a save. Thanks to some nice foot action and superb ball handling Thami Klaasens in the 27th minute a chance for a shot on goal. With an extended leg and a bit of luck Maseti Qabi prevented the ball from getting in the gole. Edries Mkhonza's late challenge caught a CHALAY FC's player on the shin and left him crawling around in pain. The referee blew his whistle and produced the yellow card. Edries Mkhonza helped the player get up and apologised. Sizwe Bartlett took care of the ball after a well-directed shot from Albert Thembe, even though the ball almost passed him on his left side. In the 36th minute CHALAY FC were awarded a corner. Kenny Mayoyo went to the cornerflag to take it. The corner ended in Lungie Kubheka almost managing to get the ball behind the net, but Union Transvaal's Sizwe Bartlett did a great save. CHALAY FC's Nick Mokhasi got a good chance for a goal in the 42nd minute, but he totally mistimed the shot and it went over the crossbar. 44 minutes into the match, CHALAY FC's goal looked a bit too open when Thami Klaasens came free, but Maseti Qabi reached the ball before it rolled over the goal line. The audience was convinced that Thami Klaasens's extremely hard shot when he got free in front of the goal was going in, but Maseti Qabi was relentless in the 46th minute of the game. After the first half the score was level. The break gave the players a chance to catch their breath, whilst the managers went over the tactics with them again.

When the second half was about to start, both teams quickly lined up and Thami Klaasens made a kick off. CHALAY FC were furious when Terence Mufumadi was red carded, 53 minutes into the game, but the referee dismissed their protests. Thami Klaasens was extremely unlucky when he, in the 58th minute, took a shot that hit the right post and went out. If Thami Klaasens had kept his shot down it would have been a goal in the 60th minute. The ball went over the crossbar and out instead. When Union Transvaal's Thami Klaasens in 63 game minutes managed to cut through with the ball in front of the goal, only having to shoot. Maseti Qabi guarding the goal like a pit bull was extremely focused and managed to reach the ball just by the crossbar before it went in. 64 minutes into the match, Maxwell Mbule dribbled the ball past the defender and swiftly kicked the ball to the left of Maseti Qabi, 1-3. Albert Thembe charged in rather forcefully in the 67th minute of the match, and managed to knock his opponent down. The referee showed Albert Thembe the yellow card, and asked the players to shake hands before continuing play. Union Transvaal's Siphokazi Smith was substituted for Maxwell Mbule. In the 68th minute, Albert Thembe hit a crossing free kick to the open man running down the field. 69 minutes into the match, Thami Klaasens had an open shot that he just couldn't miss and scored to the right of Maseti Qabi. CHALAY FC's manager could be seen yelling to the referee that Thami Klaasens was offside, but the referee ignored the protest. 1-4. Thami Klaasens received a nice pass in the box and took a hard shot in the 73rd minute. Maseti Qabi tensed up and prepared to dive, but the shot went over the goal with him having to interfere. Thami Klaasens's shot when he came free in front of the goal in the 75thth minute, Maseti Qabi skillfully showed off with a save to what seemed to be an obvious goal. CHALAY FC's Maseti Qabi proved his good apprehension of play when he, in the 82nd minute of the match, managed to save CHALAY FC from getting a goal against them. A collision led to CHALAY FC getting a freekick after 82 minutes play. Mpenza Mokatimi hit a great ball. The long shot by Edries Mkhonza in the 84th minute really tested Maseti Qabi's skills. The ball was on its way into the goal to the left of him when he managed to stretch himself and save the shot and avoid a goal. Thami Klaasens's shot when he came free in front of the goal in the 85thth minute, Maseti Qabi skillfully showed off with a save to what seemed to be an obvious goal. Thami Klaasens could have scored with his fast shot on goal in the 88th minute of the match, but Maseti Qabi made a huge save. In the 90th minute, Thami Klaasens made a precise shot to the right of Maseti Qabi. CHALAY FC's defense was at fault, and the scoreboard reflected the new score, 1-5. With his leg Maseti Qabi managed to avoid a goal in the 94thth minute, when Union Transvaal's Thami Klaasens fired away a shot with a lot of spin towards his right hand side. Mawetu Thebile sent away a hard shot on goal in the 95th minute, but the ball went just over the crossbar and out. A very good chance. Thami Klaasens could have scored with his fast shot on goal in the 97th minute of the match, but Maseti Qabi made a huge save. Union Transvaal's players went to the stands to thank the travelling support. The fan's backing had helped spurr the team on to a fine performance that won them the match.
