Nelson Sewele sent away a hard shot on goal in the 8th minute, but the ball went just over the crossbar and out. A very good chance. Wycliffe Mathibe made a wonderful reflex save on a shot from Nelson Sewele in the 15th minute of play. After some fancy dribbling in the 26th minute, Ebrahim Lekgwathi managed to get in a good position for a shot. Lukolweni's supporters rose to their feet, but Ebrahim Lekgwathi was a bit off balance and shot the ball just wide of the left post. Rabelani Kekana breathed a sigh of relief and went to take the goal kick. Lindo Melele's late challenge caught a Lukolweni's player on the shin and left him crawling around in pain. Wycliffe Mathibe made a fantastic save in the 44th minute, when Bomikaze Mafuna sent off a good shot on target. No-one was surprised that the home team were leading 1-0 at half-time.
A collision led to Lukolweni getting a freekick after 51 minutes play. Sipho Mandla hit a great ball. After a rather tough play, Lukolweni's Gary Nkadimeng got a free kick in the 56th minute. Stanton Mkhwanazi received a nice pass in the box and took a hard shot in the 58th minute. Wycliffe Mathibe tensed up and prepared to dive, but the shot went over the goal with him having to interfere. After a rather tough play, Welgevonden's Lindo Melele got a free kick in the 60th minute. Kenny Sono struck a weak shot in the 63rd minute. Wycliffe Mathibe didn't even have to move as the ball rolled over the line well wide of the goal. A wasted opportunity for Welgevonden. The referee was alert and spotted a serious foul by Joseph Mahlangu during the 79th minute. The player immediately received a yellow card. The supporters of Welgevonden booed when Lukolweni was adjudged a doubtful freekick after 79 match minutes in a wonderful position. Joseph Mahlangu didn't get a good kick on the ball. Welgevonden's Patrick Maduna got a good chance for a goal in the 82nd minute, but he totally mistimed the shot and it went over the crossbar. In the 85th minute, Thabo Mbheki made a precise shot to the right of Wycliffe Mathibe. Lukolweni's defense was at fault, and the scoreboard reflected the new score, 4-0. 95 minutes into the match, Welgevonden's Thabo Mbheki sent off a blazing shot straight on target, a shot that Wycliffe Mathibe narrowly saved just below the crossbar. If Patrick Maduna had kept his shot down it would have been a goal in the 96th minute. The ball went over the crossbar instead. When the referee ended the match the Welgevonden players were able to celebrate. They had won a fair victory and recieved the ovations of their fans.
