Seating: 1000, VIP seats: 0) Dark clouds were building up when the players entered the field. None of the them looked very eager to play. Nick Mokhasi started the match with the kick off. If Nick Mokhasi had kept his shot down it would have been a goal in the 8th minute. The ball went over the crossbar and out instead. Thabo Mbheki blasted a shot towards the goal in the 10th minute, but the shot hit the top of the crossbar and went out without Maseti Qabi having to make a save. With a couple of smart ball manuevers Patrick Maduna in the 17th managed to get into a good position. With a left leg Maseti Qabi saved CHALAY FC from getting behind. Terence Mufumadi kicked well hit freekick during the 18th minute of the match. In the 20th minute, Thabo Mbheki got an opportunity to score, but he didn't get a solid hit on the ball and ended up kicking it wide of the goal. Patrick Maduna's shot was meant for the net just under the crossbar, but Maseti Qabi read the situation well and was quickly in position to make a wonderful save in the 21st minute of play. After a defensive mix-up in Welgevonden's zone, Papi Setlaba stole the ball and had only the goalie to beat. Rabelani Kekana came out of the goal and Papi Setlaba tried to chip the ball over his head. To his dismay, the ball went over the crossbar and out of play. When Themba Edwards fell near the penalty area in the 26th minute he thought he would be awarded a free kick. The referee ignored CHALAY FC's protests and gave Themba Edwards a yellow card for diving instead. The referee blew the whistle for a penalty in the 26th minute of the game. One of CHALAY FC:s players had nearly got his shirt torn off by an opponent while getting free in front of Welgevonden:s goal. When Kenny Sono fell near the penalty area in the 42nd minute he thought he would be awarded a free kick. The referee ignored Welgevonden's protests and gave Kenny Sono a yellow card for diving instead. Kenny Sono hit a great freekick 42 minutes into the match. Nelson Sewele sent away a hard shot on goal in the 45th minute, but the ball went just over the crossbar and out. A very good chance. No-one was surprised that the home team were leading 1-0 at half-time.
Patrick Maduna sent away a hard shot on goal in the 56th minute, but the ball hit the crossbar and went out. A very good chance for a goal. Thabo Mbheki fired away a screaming shot towards the goal in the 67th minute, but the shot went just over the crossbar without Maseti Qabi having to interfere. If Papi Setlaba had kept his shot down it would have been a goal in the 68th minute. The ball went over the crossbar and out instead. After 70 played minutes Welgevonden got a freekick which was hit by Thami Mnisi. Rabelani Kekana took care of the ball after a well-directed shot from Nick Mokhasi, even though the ball almost passed him on his left side. Rabelani Kekana made a wonderful reflex save on a shot from Nick Mokhasi in the 72nd minute of play. 76 minutes into the match, Thami Mnisi notched a goal, 2-0, to the right of CHALAY FC's Maseti Qabi. Maseti Qabi was clearly disgusted with the effort of the defense and let the defenders know about it. Maseti Qabi made a wonderful reflex save on a shot from Thabo Mbheki in the 79th minute of play. Papi Setlaba recieved an excellent pass in front of the goal in the 82nd minute. Unfortunately, he received the ball on his off foot and could only manage a weak shot that went over the goal. In the 83rd minute, Albert Thembe hit a crossing free kick to the open man running down the field. Maseti Qabi showed brilliant goalkeeper skills when he caught the ball after a hard shot from Thami Mnisi in the 85th minute of the match. When Patrick Maduna came up free with the goalie in the 88th minute, the Welgevonden fans jumped to their feet. But the shot missed the goal by a fraction of an inch, and the fans sat back down disappointed that Patrick Maduna couldn't finish the play. Patrick Maduna sent away a hard shot on goal in the 91st minute, but the ball went just over the crossbar and out. A very good chance. It was no surprise that this one had ended in a win for the home team. Welgevonden had played much better football throughout.
