Unfortunately, he received the ball on his off foot and could only manage a weak shot that went over the goal. When Union Transvaal's Thami Klaasens in the 4th minute got a chance for a shot 4th didn't hesitate and placed the ball to the right of the goalie. A beautiful save bye Lukolweni's goalie prevented a goal. The audience was convinced that Thami Klaasens's extremely hard shot when he got free in front of the goal was going in, but Wycliffe Mathibe was relentless in the 6th minute of the game. Sipho Tau blasted a shot towards the goal in the 10th minute, but the shot hit the top of the crossbar and went out without Wycliffe Mathibe having to make a save. Wycliffe Mathibe showed his good apprehension of the play when he made a fantastic save on a shot from Thami Klaasens, who was totally free with the ball in the 11th minute. The supporters of Union Transvaal booed when Lukolweni was adjudged a doubtful freekick after 12 match minutes in a wonderful position. Joseph Mahlangu didn't get a good kick on the ball. Wycliffe Mathibe showed brilliant goalkeeper skills when he caught the ball after a hard shot from Thami Klaasens in the 13th minute of the match. Thanks to some nice foot action and superb ball handling Thami Klaasens in the 19th minute a chance for a shot on goal. With an extended leg and a bit of luck Wycliffe Mathibe prevented the ball from getting in the gole. After 21st play minutes Thami Klaasens shot 0-1, a short shot which went by Wycliffe Mathibe and just under the crossbar into goal. When Union Transvaal's Thami Klaasens in the 25th minute got a chance for a shot 25th didn't hesitate and placed the ball to the right of the goalie. The Union Transvaal fans' excitement grew in the 26th match minute when Union Transvaal's Thami Klaasens looked to have a clear shot with the ball near the goal. The shot wasn't hard, but the ball still rolled over the goal line to make it 0-2 before the goalkeeper had a chance to intervene. With a couple of smart ball manuevers Thami Klaasens in the 35th managed to get into a good position. With a left leg Wycliffe Mathibe saved Lukolweni from getting behind. Wycliffe Mathibe stood for a superb save when he managed to get hold of Thami Klaasens's shot from short distance in the 39th minute. After a defensive mix-up in Lukolweni's zone, Thomas Magagane stole the ball and had only the goalie to beat. Wycliffe Mathibe came out of the goal and Thomas Magagane tried to chip the ball over his head. To his dismay, the ball went over the crossbar and out of play. 45 minutes into the match, Lukolweni's goal looked a bit too open when Thami Klaasens came free, but Wycliffe Mathibe reached the ball before it rolled over the goal line. After some fancy dribbling in the 46th minute, Mawetu Thebile managed to get in a good position for a shot. Union Transvaal's supporters rose to their feet, but Mawetu Thebile was a bit off balance and shot the ball just wide of the left post. Wycliffe Mathibe breathed a sigh of relief and went to take the goal kick.
Lukolweni's Wycliffe Mathibe proved his good apprehension of play when he, in the 52nd minute of the match, managed to save Lukolweni from getting a goal against them. A hard shot 55 in the game by Thami Klaasens from a close distance when the talented Wycliffe Mathibe managed to make a qualified save. Lukolweni's players were relieved. Thami Klaasens could have scored with his fast shot on goal in the 57th minute of the match, but Wycliffe Mathibe made a huge save. Thami Klaasenss short, quick shot in the 64thth minute got Wycliffe Mathibe to make great effort and bar the ball away from getting in. 65 minutes into the match, Lukolweni's goalkeeper Wycliffe Mathibe had to clear away a ball on his right side after a cunning shot by Mawetu Thebile. Wycliffe Mathibe didn't have a chance when a screaming shot from Thami Klaasens went, in the 66th minute, to the upper right corner, 0-4 was the resulting score. In the 75th match minute, Lukolweni was awarded a freekick, the ball was picked up by Joseph Mahlangu to maneuver through the defense. Akil Klaasens hit a great freekick 77 minutes into the match. A hard shot 79 in the game by Thami Klaasens from a close distance when the talented Wycliffe Mathibe managed to make a qualified save. Lukolweni's players were relieved. After 82 played minutes Union Transvaal got a freekick which was hit by Thomas Magagane. Thami Klaasens had several of the Lukolweni's defenders around him in the penalty area when he, after 87 minutes of play, received a pass and succeeded in some way to shoot a shot which went straight ahead into goal. This resulted in a 0-5 score and a disappointed Wycliffe Mathibe as he didn't even see the shot coming. In the 91st minute Thami Klaasens shot on, it seemed, an open goal, but Wycliffe Mathibe saw the ball coming and threw himself on it before it passed the goal line. Sipho Tau sent away a hard shot on goal in the 93rd minute, but the ball went just over the crossbar and out. A very good chance.
