Spectators: 5000 (Terracing: 4000, Seating: 1000, VIP seats: 0) Dark clouds were building up when the players entered the field. None of the them looked very eager to play. Dušan Lopata started the match with the kick off. The supporters of MŠK Žilina booed when AS Trenčín Fc was adjudged a doubtful freekick after 6 match minutes in a wonderful position. Maros Ihnát didn't get a good kick on the ball. 8 minutes into the match, MŠK Žilina's goal looked a bit too open when Samuel Letko came free, but Róbert Samák reached the ball before it rolled over the goal line. Ján Seman scored 1-0 in the 10th match minute with a shot that went into the goal to the right of Róbert Samák, who was just a little too slow in reacting to the shot. After 13 played minutes MŠK Žilina got a freekick which was hit by Matej Starší. After some fancy dribbling in the 14th minute, Samuel Letko managed to get in a good position for a shot. AS Trenčín Fc's supporters rose to their feet, but Samuel Letko was a bit off balance and shot the ball just wide of the left post. Róbert Samák breathed a sigh of relief and went to take the goal kick. In the 15th match minute, MŠK Žilina was awarded a freekick, the ball was picked up by Richard Galbavý to maneuver through the defense. Lukáš Kvietik sent away a hard shot on goal in the 20th minute, but the ball went just over the crossbar and out. A very good chance. Samuel Letko struck a weak shot in the 26th minute. Róbert Samák didn't even have to move as the ball rolled over the line well wide of the goal. A wasted opportunity for AS Trenčín Fc. Ján Muranský showed his good apprehension of the play when he made a fantastic save on a shot from Maroš Poláček, who was totally free with the ball in the 28th minute. If Dušan Lopata had kept his shot down it would have been a goal in the 29th minute. The ball went over the crossbar and out instead. Róbert Samák made an important save on a dangerous shot by Ján Seman in the 35th minute. When MŠK Žilina's Dušan Lopata in the 37th minute got a chance for a shot 37th didn't hesitate and placed the ball to the right of the goalie. A beautiful save bye AS Trenčín Fc's goalie prevented a goal. Samuel Letko fired away a screaming shot towards the goal in the 39th minute, but the shot went just over the crossbar without Róbert Samák having to interfere. 41 minutes in the game, Samuel Letko fired away an excellent shot, which passed to the side of the right post without Róbert Samák having to interfere. In the 42nd match minute, AS Trenčín Fc was awarded a freekick, the ball was picked up by Maros Ihnát to maneuver through the defense. Dušan Lopata recieved an excellent pass in front of the goal in the 44th minute. Unfortunately, he received the ball on his off foot and could only manage a weak shot that went over the goal.

The hometeam waved at the audience when it was time for Samuel Letko to strike the kick off in the second half. In the 54th match minute, MŠK Žilina was awarded a freekick, the ball was picked up by Roman Šútora to maneuver through the defense. After a defensive mix-up in MŠK Žilina's zone, Samuel Letko stole the ball and had only the goalie to beat. Róbert Samák came out of the goal and Samuel Letko tried to chip the ball over his head. To his dismay, the ball went over the crossbar and out of play. In the 57th minute, Samuel Letko left the goalkeeper for dead before tapping the ball into the right side of the net. The AS Trenčín Fc fans were clearly happy with the effort and the scoreboard reflected the new score: 2-0. An unexpectedly hard shot by Ján Seman in the 62nd minute of play forced MŠK Žilina's goalkeeper Róbert Samák to throw himself to the left, to be able to save the ball. In the 62nd match minute, MŠK Žilina was awarded a freekick, the ball was picked up by Lukáš Kvietik to maneuver through the defense. AS Trenčín Fc's Ján Muranský played magnificently when he managed to stop the ball from hitting the goal, after a sharp shot by Dušan Lopata in the 73rd minute of play. Ján Seman received a nice pass in the box and took a hard shot in the 75th minute. Róbert Samák tensed up and prepared to dive, but the shot went over the goal with him having to interfere. Maroš Poláček could have scored with his fast shot on goal in the 78th minute of the match, but Ján Muranský made a huge save. After a rather tough play, AS Trenčín Fc's Maros Ihnát got a free kick in the 79th minute. A collision led to MŠK Žilina getting a freekick after 83 minutes play. Maroš Poláček hit a great ball. If Ján Seman had kept his shot down it would have been a goal in the 85th minute. The ball went over the crossbar and out instead. After a rather tough play, MŠK Žilina's Pavol Bauer got a free kick in the 88th minute. Samuel Letko's shot was meant for the net just under the crossbar, but Róbert Samák read the situation well and was quickly in position to make a wonderful save in the 89th minute of play. Róbert Samák made a wonderful reflex save on a shot from Samuel Letko in the 90th minute of play.
