Gabriel Jež struck a weak shot in the 9th minute. Marek Eštok didn't even have to move as the ball rolled over the line well wide of the goal. A wasted opportunity for FC Chawoya. 10 minutes into the game, Pavol Zábojník was given a yellow card after he appeared to trip an opposing player. ŠK Slovan Bratislava's manager was livid on the sidelines, but the referee was unmoved and gave FC Chawoya the free kick. After 11 played minutes ŠK Slovan Bratislava got a freekick which was hit by Pavol Zábojník. 17 minutes into the game, Marek Jurčo cracked a shot to the right of the goalkeeper, 2-0. Branislav Kovaľčík was not in position, and could only watch the ball fly in. FC Chawoya's Branislav Kovaľčík proved his good apprehension of play when he, in the 21st minute of the match, managed to save FC Chawoya from getting a goal against them. The crowd rose to their feet as ŠK Slovan Bratislava's Pavol Zábojník slotted home a wonderful shot that went in to the left of Branislav Kovaľčík. That made the score 3-0 after 22 minutes of play. Marek Eštok took care of the ball after a well-directed shot from Štefan Hupka, even though the ball almost passed him on his left side. Branislav Kovaľčík made a fantastic save in the 28th minute, when Marek Jurčo sent off a good shot on target. 32 minutes into the game, Marek Jurčo lined in a short shot 4-0 behind a frustrated Branislav Kovaľčík. Marek Eštok didn't have a chance when a screaming shot from Miroslav Marguš went, in the 42nd minute, to the upper right corner, 4-1 was the resulting score. An unexpectedly hard shot by Štefan Hupka in the 45th minute of play forced ŠK Slovan Bratislava's goalkeeper Marek Eštok to throw himself to the left, to be able to save the ball. 47 minutes into the match, ŠK Slovan Bratislava's goal looked a bit too open when Štefan Hupka came free, but Marek Eštok reached the ball before it rolled over the goal line. All the noise was coming from the home fans when the whistle went for half-time. The home team had fought hardest to put themselves in a deserved lead.

The players of the home team were most fresh-looking when they entered the field to play the second half. Štefan Hupka was the one to do the kick off. ŠK Slovan Bratislava's Marek Eštok proved his good apprehension of play when he, in the 51st minute of the match, managed to save ŠK Slovan Bratislava from getting a goal against them. Štefan Hupka could have scored with his fast shot on goal in the 53rd minute of the match, but Marek Eštok made a huge save. An unexpectedly hard shot by Gabriel Jež in the 54th minute of play forced ŠK Slovan Bratislava's goalkeeper Marek Eštok to throw himself to the left, to be able to save the ball. ŠK Slovan Bratislava's Marek Eštok played magnificently when he managed to stop the ball from hitting the goal, after a sharp shot by Miroslav Marguš in the 60th minute of play. Štefan Hupka's shot straight on target was not completely harmless. The ball had pretty good speed, but Marek Eštok firmly grabbed it by the left post. In the 62nd minute, Štefan Hupka reached a very good position and smashed the ball with a huge effort into the net, just to the left of Marek Eštok. The goal made the score 4-2. The supporters of FC Chawoya booed when ŠK Slovan Bratislava was adjudged a doubtful freekick after 65 match minutes in a wonderful position. Eduard Vorobeľ didn't get a good kick on the ball. Miroslav Marguš hit a great freekick 68 minutes into the match. Branislav Kovaľčík made a wonderful reflex save on a shot from Marek Jurčo in the 69th minute of play. Štefan Hupka sent away a hard shot on goal in the 70th minute, but the ball went just over the crossbar and out. A very good chance. When Štefan Hupka came up free with the goalie in the 74th minute, the FC Chawoya fans jumped to their feet. But the shot missed the goal by a fraction of an inch, and the fans sat back down disappointed that Štefan Hupka couldn't finish the play. Marek Eštok made a wonderful reflex save on a shot from Gabriel Jež in the 78th minute of play. If Gabriel Jež had kept his shot down it would have been a goal in the 91st minute. The ball went over the crossbar and out instead. After having played for 94 minutes, Štefan Hupka managed to get in a good position for a shot on goal. FC Chawoya's supporters crossed their fingers, but Štefan Hupka was, after a quick turn that froze the defenders, out of balance and shot the ball just to the right of the goal. When the referee blew the final whistle, ŠK Slovan Bratislava could leave the field as winners, despite FC Chawoya having more of the ball for most of the match.
