When Pavel Dejeu came up free with the goalie in the 45th minute, the Douglas Haig fans jumped to their feet. But the shot missed the goal by a fraction of an inch, and the fans sat back down disappointed that Pavel Dejeu couldn't finish the play.

Both teams looked relatively alert before the second half when the referee blew his whistle to tell Zdeno Baštovánsky to make the kick off. Douglas Haig were furious when Shaq O'Neal was red carded, 51 minutes into the game, but the referee dismissed their protests. After a rather tough play, Douglas Haig's Shaq O'Neal got a free kick in the 51st minute. The supporters of Douglas Haig booed when Kristy was adjudged a doubtful freekick after 65 match minutes in a wonderful position. Zdeno Baštovánsky didn't get a good kick on the ball. Jaroslaw Chowaniec blasted a shot towards the goal in the 69th minute, but the shot hit the top of the crossbar and went out without Milan Janáč having to make a save. The Kristy fans had already started to leave before the final whistle blew. Douglas Haig were clearly better and deserved to take the win.
