When Peter Zeman came up free with the goalie in the 4th minute, the MŠK Púchov fans jumped to their feet. But the shot missed the goal by a fraction of an inch, and the fans sat back down disappointed that Peter Zeman couldn't finish the play. Marián Požgaj was out of position in the 7 minute of play, and Peter Zeman capitalized on the mistake with a soft shot into the goal. Peter Zeman really showed his touch with that goal: 1-0. Podhorie's Ľubomír Zubor got a good chance for a goal in the 11th minute, but he totally mistimed the shot and it went over the crossbar. In the 12th minute Vladimír Zvijač shot on, it seemed, an open goal, but Štefan Šandal saw the ball coming and threw himself on it before it passed the goal line. In the 14th minute of the match Podhorie got a corner. MŠK Púchov's goalie ran out to the linesman to protest the call, but the linesman resolutely pointed his flag at the cornerflag. Ivan Novosedlík ran over to the corner to take the kick. Jozef Libert scored 1-1 in the 19th match minute with a shot that went into the goal to the right of Štefan Šandal, who was just a little too slow in reacting to the shot. Ľubomír Zubor fired away a screaming shot towards the goal in the 21st minute, but the shot went just over the crossbar without Štefan Šandal having to interfere. After 25 played minutes Podhorie got a freekick which was hit by Ľubomír Zubor. Marián Požgaj didn't have a chance when a screaming shot from Lukáš Štovčík went, in the 26th minute, to the upper right corner, 2-1 was the resulting score. An unexpectedly hard shot by Vladimír Zvijač in the 33rd minute of play forced MŠK Púchov's goalkeeper Štefan Šandal to throw himself to the left, to be able to save the ball. An unexpected shot in the 37th minute by Lukáš Štovčík got the crowd on their feet, but to their dismay it went out on the left side. Marián Požgaj made an important save on a dangerous shot by Lukáš Štovčík in the 38th minute. In the 39th minute of the match MŠK Púchov got a corner. The corner led MŠK Púchov's Peter Zeman to fire away a dangerous shot which Marián Požgaj despite some difficulties managed to get hold on the ball. Peter Zeman received a nice pass, split the defenders, and ran untouched towards the goal. Marián Požgaj came out and tried to block the shot, but Peter Zeman slotted it home off the left post making it 3-1 in the 43rd minute. After a defensive mix-up in Podhorie's zone, Peter Zeman stole the ball and had only the goalie to beat. Marián Požgaj came out of the goal and Peter Zeman tried to chip the ball over his head. To his dismay, the ball went over the crossbar and out of play. All the noise was coming from the home fans when the whistle went for half-time. The home team had fought hardest to put themselves in a deserved lead.

The wind increased when Peter Zeman made the kick off in the second half. In the 52nd minute the ball was on its way in behind Podhorie's goalkeeper Marián Požgaj, but with the help of a sacrificing defense, he could catch the ball at the crossbar. 54 minutes into the game, Antón Majerčák was given a yellow card after he appeared to trip an opposing player. Podhorie's manager was livid on the sidelines, but the referee was unmoved and gave MŠK Púchov the free kick. A collision led to Podhorie getting a freekick after 54 minutes play. Lukáš Štovčík fired away a screaming shot towards the goal in the 75th minute, but the shot went just over the crossbar without Marián Požgaj having to interfere. Ladislav Čorej helped the player get up and apologised. The supporters of Podhorie booed when MŠK Púchov was adjudged a doubtful freekick after 94 match minutes in a wonderful position. Ladislav Čorej didn't get a good kick on the ball. With a couple of smart ball manuevers Vladimír Zvijač in the 95th managed to get into a good position. With a left leg Štefan Šandal saved MŠK Púchov from getting behind. When the referee ended the match the MŠK Púchov players were able to celebrate. They had won a fair victory and recieved the ovations of their fans.
