FC KVP Košice's Miroslav Heršic played magnificently when he managed to stop the ball from hitting the goal, after a sharp shot by Viliam Stupala in the 3rd minute of play. When FK 1952's Kamil Lukáč in the 9th minute got a chance for a shot 9th didn't hesitate and placed the ball to the right of the goalie. A beautiful save bye FC KVP Košice's goalie prevented a goal. Matej Hájiček received a nice pass in the box and took a hard shot in the 16th minute. Stano Čerňan tensed up and prepared to dive, but the shot went over the goal with him having to interfere. Stanislav Mandl fired away a screaming shot towards the goal in the 18th minute, but the shot went just over the crossbar without Stano Čerňan having to interfere. The audience thought a goal was coming when Tomáš Ihnačák got free with Stano Čerňan in the 22nd minute, but the goalkeeper managed to catch the ball with a huge effort. In the 24th minute Viliam Stupala shot on, it seemed, an open goal, but Miroslav Heršic saw the ball coming and threw himself on it before it passed the goal line. When Jozef Hospodár fell near the penalty area in the 25th minute he thought he would be awarded a free kick. The referee ignored FC KVP Košice's protests and gave Jozef Hospodár a yellow card for diving instead. A collision led to FC KVP Košice getting a freekick after 25 minutes play. Jozef Hospodár hit a great ball. If Eugen Gerbóc had kept his shot down it would have been a goal in the 27th minute. The ball went over the crossbar instead. Miroslav Heršic took care of the ball after a well-directed shot from Eugen Gerbóc, even though the ball almost passed him on his left side. FK 1952's Stano Čerňan played magnificently when he managed to stop the ball from hitting the goal, after a sharp shot by Jozef Hospodár in the 33rd minute of play. Stano Čerňan made an important save on a dangerous shot by Tomáš Ihnačák in the 37th minute. Stanislav Mandl scored 1-0 in the 39th match minute with a shot that went into the goal to the right of Stano Čerňan, who was just a little too slow in reacting to the shot. With a little luck, FK 1952's Stano Čerňan got control of the ball when Stanislav Mandl tried to sneak it across the goal line. After a defensive mix-up in FK 1952's zone, Stanislav Mandl stole the ball and had only the goalie to beat. Stano Čerňan came out of the goal and Stanislav Mandl tried to chip the ball over his head. To his dismay, the ball went over the crossbar and out of play. The home fans were very happy to see their team leading 1-0 at half-time.

The wind increased when Eugen Gerbóc made the kick off in the second half. When Dávid Zelený fell near the penalty area in the 56th minute he thought he would be awarded a free kick. The referee ignored FC KVP Košice's protests and gave Dávid Zelený a yellow card for diving instead. In the 56th minute, Dávid Zelený hit a crossing free kick to the open man running down the field. When Eugen Gerbóc came up free with the goalie in the 59th minute, the FK 1952 fans jumped to their feet. But the shot missed the goal by a fraction of an inch, and the fans sat back down disappointed that Eugen Gerbóc couldn't finish the play. Kamil Lukáč sent away a hard shot on goal in the 77th minute, but the ball hit the crossbar and went out. A very good chance for a goal. After 80 played minutes FC KVP Košice got a freekick which was hit by Tomáš Ihnačák. A hard shot by Marián Olšanský from long distance, 81 minutes into the match, got Miroslav Heršic's attention. Through a fast twist with his body, he could stop the ball from going in on his right side. Stanislav Mandl received a nice pass in the box and took a hard shot in the 89th minute. Stano Čerňan tensed up and prepared to dive, but the shot went over the goal with him having to interfere. When Stanislav Mandl came up free with the goalie in the 91st minute, the FC KVP Košice fans jumped to their feet. But the shot missed the goal by a fraction of an inch, and the fans sat back down disappointed that Stanislav Mandl couldn't finish the play. 93 minutes into the match, Stanislav Mandl had an open shot that he just couldn't miss and scored to the right of Stano Čerňan. FK 1952's manager could be seen yelling to the referee that Stanislav Mandl was offside, but the referee ignored the protest. 3-0. FC KVP Košice's supporters were delighted with their team's performance and swarmed onto the pitch at the end of the match to celebrate the victory with the players.
