Matej Vičan made an important save on a dangerous shot by Henrich Šípka in the 4th minute. After 15 played minutes Hlohovec got a freekick which was hit by Peter Smrtič. 17 minutes into the game, Chucky Norris recieved a splendid long ball, split the defenders, and gently placed the ball to the left of Matej Vičan. Chucky Norris showed that you don't have to tear a hole in the net to score, 1-0. When the match had gone on for 21 minutes, Pavlos Iordanidis put it in 2-0 from a short distance just to the right of Matej Vičan. Ersan Sayfi's shot was meant for the net just under the crossbar, but Ivan Čanecký read the situation well and was quickly in position to make a wonderful save in the 24th minute of play. Pavlos Iordanidis sent away a hard shot on goal in the 30th minute, but the ball hit the crossbar and went out. A very good chance for a goal. In the 31st match minute, Hlohovec was awarded a freekick, the ball was picked up by Viktor Slivoň to maneuver through the defense. In the 41st minute, Henrich Šípka ran past the defenders and hit a shot which went straight ahead into goal. Matej Vičan was frozen by the shot and now it was 3-0. Chucky Norris could have scored with his fast shot on goal in the 48th minute of the match, but Matej Vičan made a huge save. When the match had gone on for 48 minutes, Chucky Norris took a quick shot and it went in 4-0 without a chance for Matej Vičan to make any attempt to save it. The away team players looked dejected as the walked off the pitch at half time. They had fought hard, but were still losing 4-0.

When the second half was about to start, both teams quickly lined up and Pavlos Iordanidis made a kick off. Ivan Čanecký made a wonderful reflex save on a shot from Ersan Sayfi in the 55th minute of play. Matej Vičan showed his good apprehension of the play when he made a fantastic save on a shot from Henrich Šípka, who was totally free with the ball in the 57th minute. In the 61st minute the ball was on its way in behind Hlohovec's goalkeeper Matej Vičan, but with the help of a sacrificing defense, he could catch the ball at the crossbar. Henrich Šípka fired away a screaming shot towards the goal in the 64th minute, but the shot went just over the crossbar without Matej Vičan having to interfere. In the 67th minute Pavlos Iordanidis shot on, it seemed, an open goal, but Matej Vičan saw the ball coming and threw himself on it before it passed the goal line. Matej Vičan stood for a superb save when he managed to get hold of Pavlos Iordanidis's shot from short distance in the 69th minute. After 70 minutes, Marián Konrád mouthed his way into the referee's book. The tension between the Hlohovec and the MFK Ružomberok players grew even worse after the yellow card. The supporters of MFK Ružomberok booed when Hlohovec was adjudged a doubtful freekick after 70 match minutes in a wonderful position. Marián Konrád didn't get a good kick on the ball. After 77 played minutes Hlohovec got a freekick which was hit by Peter Smrtič. Dávid Kuba received a nice pass in the box and took a hard shot in the 78th minute. Matej Vičan tensed up and prepared to dive, but the shot went over the goal with him having to interfere. In the 80thth minute of the game Pavlos Iordanidis who was perfectly placed tried to make a shot on goal, but Hlohovec's Matej Vičan was lucky and managed to grab hold of the ball. Matej Vičan showed brilliant goalkeeper skills when he caught the ball after a hard shot from Pavlos Iordanidis in the 85th minute of the match. Hlohovec's Matej Vičan played magnificently when he managed to stop the ball from hitting the goal, after a sharp shot by Arild Njærheim in the 86th minute of play. 88 minutes into the match, Hlohovec's goal looked a bit too open when Henrich Šípka came free, but Matej Vičan reached the ball before it rolled over the goal line. In the 89th match minute, Hlohovec was awarded a freekick, the ball was picked up by Peter Smrtič to maneuver through the defense. Oliver Tuka kicked well hit freekick during the 95th minute of the match. In the 96th minute, Henrich Šípka sent off a long shot on goal, but the shot was nowhere near the goal and Hlohovec's Matej Vičan didn't even have to move. Hlohovec's players left the field with heads hung low after losing a match that had been finely balanced throughout.
