In the 16th minute Oliver-James Gol shot on, it seemed, an open goal, but Matej Bohuš saw the ball coming and threw himself on it before it passed the goal line. When Someliéri's Giotis Michailidis in the 17th minute got a chance for a shot 17th didn't hesitate and placed the ball to the right of the goalie. Someliéri's supporters crossed their fingers, but Oliver-James Gol was, after a quick turn that froze the defenders, out of balance and shot the ball just to the right of the goal. When the match clock showed 28 minutes, the score became 1-1 when Iván Sotomayor sped through Someliéri's defense and sent away a curving shot that went into the net to the right of Edvin van der Saar. Thanks to some nice foot action and superb ball handling Iván Sotomayor in the 37th minute a chance for a shot on goal. With an extended leg and a bit of luck Edvin van der Saar prevented the ball from getting in the gole. In the 38thth minute of the game Oliver-James Gol who was perfectly placed tried to make a shot on goal, but FC Smolenice's Matej Bohuš was lucky and managed to grab hold of the ball. The supporters of Someliéri booed when FC Smolenice was adjudged a doubtful freekick after 39 match minutes in a wonderful position. Michal Lesník didn't get a good kick on the ball. After a rather tough play, FC Smolenice's Henrich Jánošík got a free kick in the 42nd minute.
