AFK Petržalka's goalkeeper really had to stretch himself to stop the ball from crossing the goal line. After some careless play in the AFK Petržalka defense, Ladislav Chmelo kicked a shot that curved into the net to the right of Štefan Semeno. The AFK Petržalka fans voiced their displeasure as they felt that Štefan Semeno should have stopped the shot. Edvin van der Saar made a wonderful reflex save on a shot from Tomáš Požgaj in the 14th minute of play. Tomáš Čerňan kicked well hit freekick during the 18th minute of the match. Edvin van der Saar made a fantastic save in the 19th minute, when Tomáš Požgaj sent off a good shot on target. If Giotis Michailidis had kept his shot down it would have been a goal in the 24th minute. The ball went over the crossbar and out instead. Štefan Semeno made a wonderful reflex save on a shot from Argi Villar in the 26th minute of play. An unexpectedly hard shot by Tomáš Požgaj in the 27th minute of play forced Someliéri's goalkeeper Edvin van der Saar to throw himself to the left, to be able to save the ball. Someliéri's Edvin van der Saar played magnificently when he managed to stop the ball from hitting the goal, after a sharp shot by Tomáš Požgaj in the 29th minute of play. Edvin van der Saar made a wonderful reflex save on a shot from Tomáš Požgaj in the 36th minute of play. After having played for 42 minutes, Okoyomon Charles Bukowski managed to get in a good position for a shot on goal. AFK Petržalka's supporters crossed their fingers, but Okoyomon Charles Bukowski was, after a quick turn that froze the defenders, out of balance and shot the ball just to the right of the goal. Edvin van der Saar came out of the goal in the 44th minute to try and stop a shot by AFK Petržalka's Tomáš Požgaj. But to his dismay, Tomáš Požgaj quickly shot the ball in between his legs and into the goal making it 1-1. In the 49th minute of the match AFK Petržalka got a corner. Someliéri's goalie ran out to the linesman to protest the call, but the linesman resolutely pointed his flag at the cornerflag. Peter Pekarík ran over to the corner to take the kick.

The wind increased when Tomáš Požgaj made the kick off in the second half. The supporters of Someliéri booed when AFK Petržalka was adjudged a doubtful freekick after 53 match minutes in a wonderful position. Viktor Petrus didn't get a good kick on the ball. 55 minutes into the match, Someliéri's goal looked a bit too open when Tomáš Požgaj came free, but Edvin van der Saar reached the ball before it rolled over the goal line. The crowd rose to their feet as Someliéri's Argi Villar slotted home a wonderful shot that went in to the left of Štefan Semeno. That made the score 1-2 after 61 minutes of play. After some fancy dribbling in the 65th minute, Tomáš Požgaj managed to get in a good position for a shot. AFK Petržalka's supporters rose to their feet, but Tomáš Požgaj was a bit off balance and shot the ball just wide of the left post. Edvin van der Saar breathed a sigh of relief and went to take the goal kick. 72 minutes into the game, AFK Petržalka's Tomáš Požgaj nearly tore a hole in the net with a booming shot. Edvin van der Saar made a valiant effort, but he could not reach the ball in time, 2-3. In the 76th minute, Tomáš Čerňan hit a crossing free kick to the open man running down the field. In the 79th minute AFK Petržalka were awarded a corner. Peter Pekarík went to the cornerflag to take it. 80 minutes into the game, Wilfried Heirpoel was given a yellow card after he appeared to trip an opposing player. Someliéri's manager was livid on the sidelines, but the referee was unmoved and gave AFK Petržalka the free kick. Wilfried Heirpoel kicked well hit freekick during the 80th minute of the match. Peter Pekarík took a chance and fired a shot far from the goal in the 81st minute, but it turned out to be a dangerous situation for Edvin van der Saar. When the final whistle sounded Someliéri left the ground with the victory after a much better performance than AFK Petržalka.
