An unexpectedly hard shot by Senad Tavčar in the 10th minute of play forced Šampion Celje's goalkeeper Zahir Markovič to throw himself to the left, to be able to save the ball. Branivoj Kujan showed brilliant goalkeeper skills when he caught the ball after a hard shot from Mika Žitnik in the 14th minute of the match. After 18 minutes of play, Šampion Celje's Karim Gjerkeš made it 0-1 when he simply outclassed the defender marking him and hit a curling shot into the right side of the net. Šampion Celje's manager could be seen yelling to the referee that Meta Rigač was offside, but the referee ignored the protest. 1-1. The ND Mozirje fans voiced their displeasure as they felt that Branivoj Kujan should have stopped the shot. When Valentin Hostar came up free with the goalie in the 32nd minute, the Šampion Celje fans jumped to their feet. But the shot missed the goal by a fraction of an inch, and the fans sat back down disappointed that Valentin Hostar couldn't finish the play. Branivoj Kujan stood for a superb save when he managed to get hold of Karim Gjerkeš's shot from short distance in the 67th minute. 71 minutes in the game, Karim Gjerkeš fired away an excellent shot, which passed to the side of the right post without Branivoj Kujan having to interfere. Polde Zaletelj's late challenge caught a Šampion Celje's player on the shin and left him crawling around in pain. The referee blew his whistle and produced the yellow card. Polde Zaletelj helped the player get up and apologised. Polde Zaletelj kicked well hit freekick during the 75th minute of the match. Šampion Celje's players went to the stands to thank the travelling support. The fan's backing had helped spurr the team on to a fine performance that won them the match.
