But the shot missed the goal by a fraction of an inch, and the fans sat back down disappointed that Jean Šerjak couldn't finish the play. In the 16th minute, Fuad Šolman reached a very good position and smashed the ball with a huge effort into the net, just to the left of Ludovik Pepel. The goal made the score 1-0. 20 minutes into the match, Jean Šerjak notched a goal, 2-0, to the right of Senožeče FC's Ludovik Pepel. Ludovik Pepel was clearly disgusted with the effort of the defense and let the defenders know about it. Milutin Damjan hit a great freekick 29 minutes into the match. When Jean Šerjak came up free with the goalie in the 30th minute, the Maribor fans jumped to their feet. An unexpectedly hard shot by Fuad Šolman in the 32nd minute of play forced Senožeče FC's goalkeeper Ludovik Pepel to throw himself to the left, to be able to save the ball. The crowd rose to their feet as Fuad Šolman kicked a wonderful shot that went in to the left of a diving Ludovik Pepel. That made the score 3-1 in the 34 minute of play. In the 38th minute, Fuad Šolman reached a very good position and smashed the ball with a huge effort into the net, just to the left of Ludovik Pepel. The goal made the score 4-1. Thanks to some nice moves Jean Šerjak could shoot a difficult shot in the 43rd minute, which Ludovik Pepel however easily saved by the left post. After a rather tough play, Maribor's Klavdij Pokovec got a free kick in the 45th minute. Af the end of the first half the score was 4-1. The first half had gone as expected for the home team.
Ludovik Pepel showed his good apprehension of the play when he made a fantastic save on a shot from Jean Šerjak, who was totally free with the ball in the 53rd minute. After a defensive mix-up in Maribor's zone, Damiano Slak stole the ball and had only the goalie to beat. Darinko Požlep came out of the goal and Damiano Slak tried to chip the ball over his head. To his dismay, the ball went over the crossbar and out of play. It was no surprise that this one had ended in a win for the home team. Maribor had played much better football throughout.
