Andrej Matjaž didn't have a chance when a screaming shot from Ive Krupenko went, in the 10th minute, to the upper right corner, 0-1 was the resulting score. Kole Djozović charged in rather forcefully in the 13th minute of the match, and managed to knock his opponent down. The referee showed Kole Djozović the yellow card, and asked the players to shake hands before continuing play. The supporters of New Greenhorns booed when Fighters and Defenders was adjudged a doubtful freekick after 13 match minutes in a wonderful position. Kole Djozović didn't get a good kick on the ball. The audience thought a goal was coming when Nedeljko Bilanče got free with Hektor Venek in the 16th minute, but the goalkeeper managed to catch the ball with a huge effort. An unexpected shot in the 18th minute by Nedeljko Bilanče got the crowd on their feet, but to their dismay it went out on the left side. Fighters and Defenders's Andrej Matjaž played magnificently when he managed to stop the ball from hitting the goal, after a sharp shot by Lambert Ponikvar in the 20th minute of play. In the 23rd minute, Slavko Krašnja hit a crossing free kick to the open man running down the field. Ive Krupenko struck a weak shot in the 29th minute. Andrej Matjaž didn't even have to move as the ball rolled over the line well wide of the goal. A wasted opportunity for New Greenhorns. If Lambert Ponikvar had kept his shot down it would have been a goal in the 30th minute. The ball went over the crossbar and out instead. 33 minutes into the match, Lambert Ponikvar notched a goal, 0-2, to the right of Fighters and Defenders's Andrej Matjaž. Andrej Matjaž was clearly disgusted with the effort of the defense and let the defenders know about it. If Ive Krupenko had kept his shot down it would have been a goal in the 37th minute. The ball went over the crossbar and out instead. After 44 minutes of play, New Greenhorns's Lambert Ponikvar made it 0-3 when he simply outclassed the defender marking him and hit a curling shot into the right side of the net. Andrej Matjaž was left in no man's land by his defense there! Hektor Venek took care of the ball after a well-directed shot from Vanja Cenkar, even though the ball almost passed him on his left side. After the first half New Greenhorns were leading 0-3. They had played with great self confidence throughout the first half and fully deserved their lead.

Hektor Venek made a valiant effort, but he could not reach the ball in time, 1-3. After a defensive mix-up in Fighters and Defenders's zone, Ive Krupenko stole the ball and had only the goalie to beat. Andrej Matjaž came out of the goal and Ive Krupenko tried to chip the ball over his head. To his dismay, the ball went over the crossbar and out of play. New Greenhorns's Lambert Ponikvar got a good chance for a goal in the 68th minute, but he totally mistimed the shot and it went over the crossbar. Ive Krupenko received a nice pass in the box and took a hard shot in the 72nd minute. Andrej Matjaž tensed up and prepared to dive, but the shot went over the goal with him having to interfere. Vanja Cenkar sent away a hard shot on goal in the 77th minute, but the ball went just over the crossbar and out. A very good chance. 80 minutes into the match, New Greenhorns's goal looked a bit too open when Nedeljko Bilanče came free, but Hektor Venek reached the ball before it rolled over the goal line. New Greenhorns's manager could be seen yelling to the referee that Miran Tanšek was offside, but the referee ignored the protest. 2-3. Hektor Venek made a wonderful reflex save on a shot from Vanja Cenkar in the 90th minute of play. Vanja Cenkar received a nice pass in the box and took a hard shot in the 91st minute. Hektor Venek tensed up and prepared to dive, but the shot went over the goal with him having to interfere. 94 minutes into the match, Fighters and Defenders's Vanja Cenkar sent off a blazing shot straight on target, a shot that Hektor Venek narrowly saved just below the crossbar. Hektor Venek took care of the ball after a well-directed shot from Vanja Cenkar, even though the ball almost passed him on his left side. The Fighters and Defenders supporters were disappointed that their team didn't take anything from the match, despite matching New Greenhorns's performance. The match ended with a win for New Greenhorns.
