When Šaban Dolenc fell near the penalty area in the 13th minute he thought he would be awarded a free kick. The referee ignored FC Pirates's protests and gave Šaban Dolenc a yellow card for diving instead. Tjaš Ercegović showed his good apprehension of the play when he made a fantastic save on a shot from Mihajlo Gomboc, who was totally free with the ball in the 14th minute. When FC Pirates's Devin Škrgić in 17 game minutes managed to cut through with the ball in front of the goal, only having to shoot. Đuro Kaloper guarding the goal like a pit bull was extremely focused and managed to reach the ball just by the crossbar before it went in. Đuro Kaloper showed brilliant goalkeeper skills when he caught the ball after a hard shot from Valerij Lepej in the 23rd minute of the match. 27 minutes into the match, FC Pirates's goal looked a bit too open when Zvezdan Drobnjaković came free, but Tjaš Ercegović reached the ball before it rolled over the goal line. 30 minutes into the game, Gvido Križman was given a yellow card after he appeared to trip an opposing player. Joga Bonito's manager was livid on the sidelines, but the referee was unmoved and gave FC Pirates the free kick. The referee blew the whistle for a penalty in the 29th minute of the game. One of Joga Bonito:s players had nearly got his shirt torn off by an opponent while getting free in front of FC Pirates:s goal. In the 38th minute, Mihajlo Gomboc ran past the defenders and hit a shot which went straight ahead into goal. Tjaš Ercegović was frozen by the shot and now it was 1-2. Tjaš Ercegović showed brilliant goalkeeper skills when he caught the ball after a hard shot from Baldomir Mandelc in the 41st minute of the match. If Valerij Lepej had kept his shot down it would have been a goal in the 44th minute. The ball went over the crossbar instead. After a defensive mix-up in FC Pirates's zone, Baldomir Mandelc stole the ball and had only the goalie to beat. Tjaš Ercegović came out of the goal and Baldomir Mandelc tried to chip the ball over his head. To his dismay, the ball went over the crossbar and out of play. The crowd was extremely unhappy with the home team's performance in the first half. They were losing 1-2.

The players of the away team seemed most concentrated when Mihajlo Gomboc stepped up to make the kick off in the second half. After 52 played minutes Joga Bonito got a freekick which was hit by Gvido Križman. 54 minutes into the match, Joga Bonito's goal looked a bit too open when Devin Škrgić came free, but Đuro Kaloper reached the ball before it rolled over the goal line. If Devin Škrgić had kept his shot down it would have been a goal in the 59th minute. The ball went over the crossbar and out instead. The audience thought a goal was coming when Mihajlo Gomboc got free with Tjaš Ercegović in the 64th minute, but the goalkeeper managed to catch the ball with a huge effort. In the 65th minute, Mihajlo Gomboc ran past the defenders and hit a shot which went straight ahead into goal. Tjaš Ercegović was frozen by the shot and now it was 1-3. Mihajlo Gomboc came free with the goalkeeper in the 75th minute of the match, and shot straight on target. The shot was a little too simple and Tjaš Ercegović could save by the left post. Đuro Kaloper stood for a superb save when he managed to get hold of Devin Škrgić's shot from short distance in the 94th minute. If Devin Škrgić had kept his shot down it would have been a goal in the 97th minute. The ball went over the crossbar and out instead. Although FC Pirates had been in control for most of the match, Joga Bonito still came away with the win.
