Christopher Lundin showed his good apprehension of the play when he made a fantastic save on a shot from Ingmar Lundkvist, who was totally free with the ball in the 19th minute. Ingmar Lundkvist struck a weak shot in the 21st minute. Christopher Lundin didn't even have to move as the ball rolled over the line well wide of the goal. A wasted opportunity for SSC Napoli. Karl-Åke Boman was astounded when the referee showed him the red card after a seemingly innocent challenge, 23 minutes into the match. When the match had been going on for 26 minutes, FC Barca's Alf Holmgren got an opportunity to shoot a penalty. He stayed cool and waited for the goalkeeper to move, before he confidently shot the ball into the goal, to the left of Karl Göransson. In the 29th minute, Felix Hedberg hit a crossing free kick to the open man running down the field. The supporters of FC Barca booed when SSC Napoli was adjudged a doubtful freekick after 35 match minutes in a wonderful position. Börje Falkrans didn't get a good kick on the ball. With a little luck, SSC Napoli's Karl Göransson got control of the ball when Lennart Tingberg tried to sneak it across the goal line. The home fans were very happy to see their team leading 1-0 at half-time.

The wind increased when Roland Erserman made the kick off in the second half. After 58 minutes of play, FC Barca's Roland Erserman made it 2-0 when he simply outclassed the defender marking him and hit a curling shot into the right side of the net. Karl Göransson was left in no man's land by his defense there! In the 62nd minute Roland Erserman shot on, it seemed, an open goal, but Karl Göransson saw the ball coming and threw himself on it before it passed the goal line. Felix Hedberg received a nice pass in the box and took a hard shot in the 64th minute. Karl Göransson tensed up and prepared to dive, but the shot went over the goal with him having to interfere. FC Barca's Christopher Lundin proved his good apprehension of play when he, in the 68th minute of the match, managed to save FC Barca from getting a goal against them. A collision led to FC Barca getting a freekick after 69 minutes play. Reine Kellbom hit a great ball. After some fancy dribbling in the 76th minute, Roland Erserman managed to get in a good position for a shot. FC Barca's supporters rose to their feet, but Roland Erserman was a bit off balance and shot the ball just wide of the left post. Karl Göransson breathed a sigh of relief and went to take the goal kick. If Jerzy Buda had kept his shot down it would have been a goal in the 79th minute. The ball went over the crossbar and out instead. Jan Stålberg kicked well hit freekick during the 83rd minute of the match. In the 84th minute of the match Alf Holmgren sent off a long shot with destination to the right of the goalkeeper, but Karl Göransson skillfully saved the ball. If Vilgot Gregersson had kept his shot down it would have been a goal in the 86th minute. The ball went over the crossbar and out instead.
