The referee felt a red card was in order, 8 minutes into the game, when Lütfi Ümran put in a rough tackle. 8 minutes into the game, one of Gretchens AIS:s players got tackled near the goal, and the referee blew for a penalty. In the 10th minute there was a penalty for Vänersborgs IF . Alfons Bergström stepped forward and shot the ball to the right of a diving Timofej Wenzel. 1-0. When Obano Rois fell near the penalty area in the 13th minute he thought he would be awarded a free kick. The referee ignored Gretchens AIS's protests and gave Obano Rois a yellow card for diving instead. The supporters of Vänersborgs IF booed when Gretchens AIS was adjudged a doubtful freekick after 14 match minutes in a wonderful position. Obano Rois didn't get a good kick on the ball. Thanks to some nice foot action and superb ball handling Gabriel Modig in the 15th minute a chance for a shot on goal. With an extended leg and a bit of luck Timofej Wenzel prevented the ball from getting in the gole. If Obano Rois had kept his shot down it would have been a goal in the 23rd minute. The ball went over the crossbar instead. When Obano Rois came up free with the goalie in the 26th minute, the Gretchens AIS fans jumped to their feet. But the shot missed the goal by a fraction of an inch, and the fans sat back down disappointed that Obano Rois couldn't finish the play. In the 28th minute, Obano Rois got an opportunity to score, but he didn't get a solid hit on the ball and ended up kicking it wide of the goal. 29 minutes into the match, Gretchens AIS's goalkeeper Timofej Wenzel had to clear away a ball on his right side after a cunning shot by Alfons Bergström. Gabriel Modig fired away a screaming shot towards the goal in the 31st minute, but the shot went just over the crossbar without Timofej Wenzel having to interfere. Timofej Wenzel showed brilliant goalkeeper skills when he caught the ball after a hard shot from Gabriel Modig in the 37th minute of the match. Timofej Wenzel stood for a superb save when he managed to get hold of Gabriel Modig's shot from short distance in the 40th minute. The crowd rose to their feet as Gabriel Modig kicked a wonderful shot that went in to the left of a diving Timofej Wenzel. That made the score 3-0 in the 45 minute of play. No-one was surprised that the home team were leading 3-0 at half-time.

Both teams looked relatively alert before the second half when the referee blew his whistle to tell Alfons Bergström to make the kick off. Timofej Wenzel showed brilliant goalkeeper skills when he caught the ball after a hard shot from Alfons Bergström in the 52nd minute of the match. Michael Arvidsson made a wonderful reflex save on a shot from Obano Rois in the 58th minute of play. Timofej Wenzel stood for a superb save when he managed to get hold of Alfons Bergström's shot from short distance in the 62nd minute. Timofej Wenzel took care of the ball after a well-directed shot from Gabriel Modig, even though the ball almost passed him on his left side. In the 66th minute, Alfons Bergström got an opportunity to score, but he didn't get a solid hit on the ball and ended up kicking it wide of the goal. Kenny Runeberg's late challenge caught a Vänersborgs IF 's player on the shin and left him crawling around in pain. The referee blew his whistle and produced the yellow card. Kenny Runeberg helped the player get up and apologised. In the 68th minute, Kenny Runeberg hit a crossing free kick to the open man running down the field. Obano Rois fired away a screaming shot towards the goal in the 73rd minute, but the shot went just over the crossbar without Michael Arvidsson having to interfere. With a couple of smart ball manuevers Gabriel Modig in the 76th managed to get into a good position. With a left leg Timofej Wenzel saved Gretchens AIS from getting behind. Timofej Wenzel stood for a superb save when he managed to get hold of Alfons Bergström's shot from short distance in the 83rd minute. Alfons Bergström received a nice pass in the box and took a hard shot in the 88th minute. Timofej Wenzel tensed up and prepared to dive, but the shot went over the goal with him having to interfere. The supporters of Gretchens AIS booed when Vänersborgs IF was adjudged a doubtful freekick after 90 match minutes in a wonderful position. Torsten Kleen didn't get a good kick on the ball. Vänersborgs IF 's Michael Arvidsson played magnificently when he managed to stop the ball from hitting the goal, after a sharp shot by Obano Rois in the 93rd minute of play.
