But the shot missed the goal by a fraction of an inch, and the fans sat back down disappointed that Hans Kalfhage couldn't finish the play. Harry Gudmundsson received a nice pass in the box and took a hard shot in the 31st minute. Radomir Giejda tensed up and prepared to dive, but the shot went over the goal with him having to interfere. Claes Koch kicked well hit freekick during the 33rd minute of the match. Christian Giöck showed brilliant goalkeeper skills when he caught the ball after a hard shot from Sven-Edvin Anselius in the 35th minute of the match. After having played for 44 minutes, Ian Eklund managed to get in a good position for a shot on goal. Manchester United's supporters crossed their fingers, but Ian Eklund was, after a quick turn that froze the defenders, out of balance and shot the ball just to the right of the goal. The crowd was extremely unhappy with the home team's performance in the first half. They were losing 0-3.

The players of the away team seemed most concentrated when Merexildo Orol stepped up to make the kick off in the second half. Christian Giöck yelled at his defense, as they had left him out to dry. 0-5. Merexildo Orol sent away a hard shot on goal in the 88th minute, but the ball went just over the crossbar and out. A very good chance. Merexildo Orol in the 90thth minute had a little luck and got a chance for a shot in front of the goal. Without hesitation aimed to the right of Christian Giöck, who managed to lunge to the right direction and made a save. Manchester United's players went to the stands to thank the travelling support. The fan's backing had helped spurr the team on to a fine performance that won them the match.
