Kauã Loyolas short, quick shot in the 12thth minute got Ulf Ekblom to make great effort and bar the ball away from getting in. Tommy Rydelius's late challenge caught a perspolis's player on the shin and left him crawling around in pain. The referee blew his whistle and produced the yellow card. After a very even first half the match was still tied. The players went to their respective dressing rooms to discuss the tactics for the second half.

Bengt Västlund charged in rather forcefully in the 57th minute of the match, and managed to knock his opponent down. The referee showed Bengt Västlund the yellow card, and asked the players to shake hands before continuing play. In the 58th minute, Holger Alströmer hit a crossing free kick to the open man running down the field. If Kauã Loyola had kept his shot down it would have been a goal in the 60th minute. But the shot missed the goal by a fraction of an inch, and the fans sat back down disappointed that Elof Abrahamsson couldn't finish the play. When Ove Bruse fell near the penalty area in the 87th minute he thought he would be awarded a free kick. The referee ignored Arboga's protests and gave Ove Bruse a yellow card for diving instead. Ove Bruse hit a great freekick 87 minutes into the match. After 88 played minutes perspolis got a freekick which was hit by Nils Sjöman. After 91 played minutes Arboga got a freekick which was hit by Tommy Rydelius. In the 95th minute, Alf Deckbergh hit a crossing free kick to the open man running down the field. perspolis's supporters were delighted with their team's performance and swarmed onto the pitch at the end of the match to celebrate the victory with the players.
