The supporters of Malmö FF booed when SELAM FC was adjudged a doubtful freekick after 6 match minutes in a wonderful position. Sören Björkdahl didn't get a good kick on the ball. After a defensive mix-up in SELAM FC's zone, Calle Almkvist stole the ball and had only the goalie to beat. Axel Bogren came out of the goal and Calle Almkvist tried to chip the ball over his head. To his dismay, the ball went over the crossbar and out of play. In the 13th minute Jan-Erik Möllgren shot on, it seemed, an open goal, but Edward Jönsson saw the ball coming and threw himself on it before it passed the goal line. After a rather tough play, Malmö FF's Nils Apelqvist got a free kick in the 17th minute. In the 20thth minute of the game Per Petersson who was perfectly placed tried to make a shot on goal, but Malmö FF's Edward Jönsson was lucky and managed to grab hold of the ball. The referee felt a red card was in order, 23 minutes into the game, when Nils Apelqvist put in a rough tackle. Nils Apelqvist kicked well hit freekick during the 23rd minute of the match. SELAM FC's Emil Telin got a good chance for a goal in the 24th minute, but he totally mistimed the shot and it went over the crossbar. Edward Jönsson came out of the goal in the 27th minute to try and stop a shot by SELAM FC's Jan-Erik Möllgren. But to his dismay, Jan-Erik Möllgren quickly shot the ball in between his legs and into the goal making it 1-0. A collision led to Malmö FF getting a freekick after 31 minutes play. Evert Damm hit a great ball. Tom Söderström's shot straight on target was not completely harmless. The ball had pretty good speed, but Edward Jönsson firmly grabbed it by the left post. Malmö FF's Edward Jönsson proved his good apprehension of play when he, in the 36th minute of the match, managed to save Malmö FF from getting a goal against them. In the 39thth minute of the game Per Petersson who was perfectly placed tried to make a shot on goal, but Malmö FF's Edward Jönsson was lucky and managed to grab hold of the ball. After some careless play in the Malmö FF defense, Per Petersson kicked a shot that curved into the net to the right of Edward Jönsson. The Malmö FF fans voiced their displeasure as they felt that Edward Jönsson should have stopped the shot. When the referee blew for the end of the half the home team players were clearly happier, as they went in to the break leading 3-0.

Edward Jönsson showed brilliant goalkeeper skills when he caught the ball after a hard shot from Per Petersson in the 53rd minute of the match. Per Petersson scored 4-0 in the 56th match minute with a shot that went into the goal to the right of Edward Jönsson, who was just a little too slow in reacting to the shot. After a defensive mix-up in Malmö FF's zone, Tom Söderström stole the ball and had only the goalie to beat. Edward Jönsson came out of the goal and Tom Söderström tried to chip the ball over his head. To his dismay, the ball went over the crossbar and out of play. Malmö FF's Christoffer Öman pulled a muscle in his leg after 80 minutes and couldn't finish the game. The referee was alert and spotted a serious foul by Sören Björkdahl during the 80th minute. The player immediately received a yellow card. Sören Björkdahl hit a great freekick 81 minutes into the match. SELAM FC's Axel Bogren proved his good apprehension of play when he, in the 82nd minute of the match, managed to save SELAM FC from getting a goal against them. Jan-Erik Möllgren took the ball and in the 86 minute, shot a rapid shot to the right of a surprised Edward Jönsson. Edward Jönsson dived to the right, and did manage to get a hand on the shot, but it still went into the right corner making it 5-0. Tom Söderström fired away a screaming shot towards the goal in the 97th minute, but the shot went just over the crossbar without Edward Jönsson having to interfere. The supporters of SELAM FC booed when Malmö FF was adjudged a doubtful freekick after 98 match minutes in a wonderful position. Oskar Wall didn't get a good kick on the ball. In the 99th minute of the match Emil Telin sent off a long shot with destination to the right of the goalkeeper, but Edward Jönsson skillfully saved the ball. The referee blew his whistle, and the match came to a close. The players exchanged shirts and headed down the tunnel. The SELAM FC fans cheered their team off the field, for while Malmö FF had put up a good fight, they were unable to come out of the game with any points to show for their effort.
