Christopher Clementsson struck a weak shot in the 10th minute. Sven-Ove Mikaelsson didn't even have to move as the ball rolled over the line well wide of the goal. A wasted opportunity for Lunds FC. Armando Calatayud took care of the ball after a well-directed shot from Olle Levander, even though the ball almost passed him on his left side. 11 minutes into the match, Olle Levander notched a goal, 1-0, to the right of Lunds FC's Armando Calatayud. Armando Calatayud was clearly disgusted with the effort of the defense and let the defenders know about it. The supporters of Manchester City FC booed when Lunds FC was adjudged a doubtful freekick after 14 match minutes in a wonderful position. Olov Löfgren didn't get a good kick on the ball. Sven-Ove Mikaelsson stood for a superb save when he managed to get hold of Christopher Clementsson's shot from short distance in the 37th minute. Sven-Ove Mikaelsson came out of the goal in the 41st minute to try and stop a shot by Lunds FC's Karl-Magnus Lång. But to his dismay, Karl-Magnus Lång quickly shot the ball in between his legs and into the goal making it 2-4. After 43 minutes, Olov Löfgren mouthed his way into the referee's book. The tension between the Lunds FC and the Manchester City FC players grew even worse after the yellow card. After 44 played minutes Lunds FC got a freekick which was hit by Olov Löfgren. The crowd was extremely unhappy with the home team's performance in the first half. They were losing 2-4.

When the second half was about to start, both teams quickly lined up and Gunnar Siöberg made a kick off. An unexpectedly hard shot by Karl-Magnus Lång in the 51st minute of play forced Manchester City FC's goalkeeper Sven-Ove Mikaelsson to throw himself to the left, to be able to save the ball. With a couple of smart ball manuevers Karl-Magnus Lång in the 59th managed to get into a good position. With a left leg Sven-Ove Mikaelsson saved Manchester City FC from getting behind. Lunds FC's Armando Calatayud played magnificently when he managed to stop the ball from hitting the goal, after a sharp shot by Gunnar Siöberg in the 66th minute of play. In the 67th match minute, Lunds FC was awarded a freekick, the ball was picked up by Güner Özol to maneuver through the defense. After a defensive mix-up in Lunds FC's zone, Olle Levander stole the ball and had only the goalie to beat. Armando Calatayud came out of the goal and Olle Levander tried to chip the ball over his head. To his dismay, the ball went over the crossbar and out of play. When the match had gone on for 75 minutes, Karl-Magnus Lång put it in 2-7 from a short distance just to the right of Sven-Ove Mikaelsson. 82 minutes into the match, Lunds FC's goal looked a bit too open when Gunnar Siöberg came free, but Armando Calatayud reached the ball before it rolled over the goal line. Sven-Ove Mikaelsson stood for a superb save when he managed to get hold of Karl-Magnus Lång's shot from short distance in the 83rd minute. The crowd rose to their feet as Karl-Magnus Lång kicked a wonderful shot that went in to the left of a diving Sven-Ove Mikaelsson. That made the score 2-8 in the 86 minute of play. When Karl-Magnus Lång came up free with the goalie in the 90th minute, the Lunds FC fans jumped to their feet. But the shot missed the goal by a fraction of an inch, and the fans sat back down disappointed that Karl-Magnus Lång couldn't finish the play. With a couple of smart ball manuevers Karl-Magnus Lång in the 95th managed to get into a good position. With a left leg Sven-Ove Mikaelsson saved Manchester City FC from getting behind. Lunds FC's players went to the stands to thank the travelling support. The fan's backing had helped spurr the team on to a fine performance that won them the match.
