Nicklas Ivarsson took care of the ball after a well-directed shot from Kent Håkansson, even though the ball almost passed him on his left side. A collision led to FC Näckan getting a freekick after 7 minutes play. Jens Hermansson hit a great ball. 9 minutes into the game, Mikael Hjortberg was given a yellow card after he appeared to trip an opposing player. Vargön's manager was livid on the sidelines, but the referee was unmoved and gave FC Näckan the free kick. The audience was convinced that Erik Damm's extremely hard shot when he got free in front of the goal was going in, but Nicklas Ivarsson was relentless in the 10th minute of the game. Börge Kolberg took the ball and in the 11 minute, shot a rapid shot to the right of a surprised Nicklas Ivarsson. Nicklas Ivarsson dived to the right, and did manage to get a hand on the shot, but it still went into the right corner making it 0-1. The audience thought a goal was coming when Christer Grep got free with Knut Lundblad in the 14th minute, but the goalkeeper managed to catch the ball with a huge effort. After a rather tough play, FC Näckan's Jens Hermansson got a free kick in the 15th minute. After 19 minutes of play, Vargön's Christer Grep made it 1-1 when he simply outclassed the defender marking him and hit a curling shot into the right side of the net. Knut Lundblad was left in no man's land by his defense there! Örjan Rang might have been able to make a better finish in the 27th minute when he tried to place a hard shot over Knut Lundblad. Instead the ball went over the crossbar and out. Örjan Rang ran back to his position shaking his head. 27 minutes in the game, the ball went up into the seats when Vargön's Christer Grep fired away a shot that was just a little bit too high. He walked away shaking his head. In the 29th minute, Kim Lundström made a precise shot to the right of Knut Lundblad. FC Näckan's defense was at fault, and the scoreboard reflected the new score, 2-2. When Vargön's Christer Grep in the 32nd minute got a chance for a shot 32nd didn't hesitate and placed the ball to the right of the goalie. A beautiful save bye FC Näckan's goalie prevented a goal. When Erik Damm fell near the penalty area in the 32nd minute he thought he would be awarded a free kick. The referee ignored FC Näckan's protests and gave Erik Damm a yellow card for diving instead. Erik Damm hit a great freekick 33 minutes into the match. Christer Grep's shot when he came free in front of the goal in the 34thth minute, Knut Lundblad skillfully showed off with a save to what seemed to be an obvious goal. Knut Lundblad was out of position in the 40 minute of play, and Christer Grep capitalized on the mistake with a soft shot into the goal. Christer Grep really showed his touch with that goal: 3-2. Knut Lundblad made a fantastic save in the 44th minute, when Christer Grep sent off a good shot on target.

The wind increased when Christer Grep made the kick off in the second half. After some fancy dribbling in the 52nd minute, Christer Grep managed to get in a good position for a shot. Vargön's supporters rose to their feet, but Christer Grep was a bit off balance and shot the ball just wide of the left post. Knut Lundblad breathed a sigh of relief and went to take the goal kick. Kim Lundström sent away a hard shot on goal in the 58th minute, but the ball went just over the crossbar and out. A very good chance. The supporters of FC Näckan booed when Vargön was adjudged a doubtful freekick after 64 match minutes in a wonderful position. Kim Lundström didn't get a good kick on the ball. In the 65th minute, Kent Håkansson left the goalkeeper for dead before tapping the ball into the right side of the net. The FC Näckan fans were clearly happy with the effort and the scoreboard reflected the new score: 4-3. Östen Engström made in the 68th minute of the game a throw-in that took a bad bounce and was taken care of by Vargön's Mikael Hjortberg. Östen Engström got his second yellow card in the match during the 72nd minute which meant that he had to leave the ground. Östen Engström hit a great freekick 73 minutes into the match. An unexpectedly hard shot by Christer Grep in the 75th minute of play forced FC Näckan's goalkeeper Knut Lundblad to throw himself to the left, to be able to save the ball. With a couple of smart ball manuevers Christer Grep in the 77th managed to get into a good position. With a left leg Knut Lundblad saved FC Näckan from getting behind. When the referee blew the final whistle jeers and boos were heard from the home team's supporters. They were angered to see Vargön lose a match they had controlled from the kick-off.
