Rönnäng's supporters crossed their fingers, but Kjell Fagrell was, after a quick turn that froze the defenders, out of balance and shot the ball just to the right of the goal. Rönnäng's supporters rose to their feet, but Nils Nordmark was a bit off balance and shot the ball just wide of the left post. Håkan Dalgren breathed a sigh of relief and went to take the goal kick. After 46 played minutes Rönnäng got a freekick which was hit by Arne Nordgren. Af the end of the first half the score was 2-0. The first half had gone as expected for the home team.

The wind increased when Nils Nordmark made the kick off in the second half. The supporters of Rönnäng booed when IFK Norrköping was adjudged a doubtful freekick after 54 match minutes in a wonderful position. Christer Mellberg didn't get a good kick on the ball. In the 57th minute Kjell Fagrell shot on, it seemed, an open goal, but Håkan Dalgren saw the ball coming and threw himself on it before it passed the goal line.
