Sven-Åke Blom yelled at his defense, as they had left him out to dry. 2-0. Karl-Åke Kilström sent away a hard shot on goal in the 13th minute, but the ball went just over the crossbar and out. A very good chance. Georg Bocklund charged in rather forcefully in the 14th minute of the match, and managed to knock his opponent down. The referee showed Georg Bocklund the yellow card, and asked the players to shake hands before continuing play. After 14 played minutes Hammarby IF got a freekick which was hit by Georg Bocklund. Åke Melander fired away a screaming shot towards the goal in the 20th minute, but the shot went just over the crossbar without Sven-Åke Blom having to interfere. After 21 minutes of play Hammarby IF's Georg Bocklund was too eager in his attempt to stop his opponent and brought him down. With that he got his second yellow card and was ordered off the ground. In the 22nd minute, Georg Bocklund hit a crossing free kick to the open man running down the field. In the 25th minute, FC Göteborg's Åke Melander dribbled the ball into the box and hit a shot with the outside of his foot, sending the keeper the wrong way. 3-0. In the 30th minute Åke Melander shot on, it seemed, an open goal, but Sven-Åke Blom saw the ball coming and threw himself on it before it passed the goal line. 32 minutes into the match, Hüsamettin Uma had an open shot that he just couldn't miss and scored to the right of Sven-Åke Blom. Hammarby IF's manager could be seen yelling to the referee that Hüsamettin Uma was offside, but the referee ignored the protest. 4-0. After 47 minutes of play, Hammarby IF's Folke Ek made it 4-1 when he simply outclassed the defender marking him and hit a curling shot into the right side of the net. Stig Chren was left in no man's land by his defense there! No-one was surprised that the home team were leading 4-1 at half-time.

The players of the home team were most fresh-looking when they entered the field to play the second half. Folke Ek was the one to do the kick off. After 64 minutes, Fabian Sigman mouthed his way into the referee's book. The tension between the Hammarby IF and the FC Göteborg players grew even worse after the yellow card. The supporters of FC Göteborg booed when Hammarby IF was adjudged a doubtful freekick after 64 match minutes in a wonderful position. Fabian Sigman didn't get a good kick on the ball. 69 minutes into the match, Hammarby IF's goal looked a bit too open when Åke Melander came free, but Sven-Åke Blom reached the ball before it rolled over the goal line. Bo-Erik Falck kicked well hit freekick during the 74th minute of the match. Bo-Erik Falck's late challenge caught a FC Göteborg's player on the shin and left him crawling around in pain. The referee blew his whistle and produced the yellow card. Bo-Erik Falck helped the player get up and apologised. The referee gave FC Göteborg a penalty, 78 minutes into the game. The penalty shot was made by Sten Utter, who made a well placed shot into the net to the right of Hammarby IF's Sven-Åke Blom. 5-1. Karl-Åke Kilström took the ball and in the 83 minute, shot a rapid shot to the right of a surprised Sven-Åke Blom. Sven-Åke Blom dived to the right, and did manage to get a hand on the shot, but it still went into the right corner making it 6-1. In the 97th minute, Harry Gunnarsson hit a crossing free kick to the open man running down the field. FC Göteborg's supporters were delighted with their team's performance and swarmed onto the pitch at the end of the match to celebrate the victory with the players.
