Pär Sefastsson took the ball and in the 7 minute, shot a rapid shot to the right of a surprised Johan Hök. Johan Hök dived to the right, and did manage to get a hand on the shot, but it still went into the right corner making it 0-1. 14 minutes into the match, Pär Sefastsson had an open shot that he just couldn't miss and scored to the right of Johan Hök. Red Army FC's manager could be seen yelling to the referee that Pär Sefastsson was offside, but the referee ignored the protest. 0-2. Johan Hök made a wonderful reflex save on a shot from Steven Gerrard in the 17th minute of play. Joacim Boström fired away a screaming shot towards the goal in the 20th minute, but the shot went just over the crossbar without Daniel Blomqvist having to interfere. Red Army FC's Åke Brolin pulled a muscle in his back after 21 minutes and couldn't finish the game. Red Army FC's Charlie Söderberg was substituted for Åke Brolin. Jonathan Granberg hit a great freekick 23 minutes into the match. In the 25th minute of the match, Joacim Boström tried to roll the ball into the goal by the right post, but Daniel Blomqvist saw his intentions and got control of the ball before it passed the line. Steven Gerrard received a nice pass in the box and took a hard shot in the 28th minute. Johan Hök tensed up and prepared to dive, but the shot went over the goal with him having to interfere. The audience was convinced that Steven Gerrard's extremely hard shot when he got free in front of the goal was going in, but Johan Hök was relentless in the 31st minute of the game. 37 minutes into the game, Joacim Boström recieved a splendid long ball, split the defenders, and gently placed the ball to the left of Daniel Blomqvist. Joacim Boström showed that you don't have to tear a hole in the net to score, 1-3. After 44th play minutes Pär Sefastsson shot 1-4, a short shot which went by Johan Hök and just under the crossbar into goal. Johan Hök took care of the ball after a well-directed shot from Steven Gerrard, even though the ball almost passed him on his left side. Even after changing tactics the home team jogged off the field with a 1-4 deficit. They would have to work harder if they wanted to turn things around in the second half.

Pär Sefastsson's shot when he came free in front of the goal in the 56thth minute, Johan Hök skillfully showed off with a save to what seemed to be an obvious goal. Red Army FC's Johan Hök played magnificently when he managed to stop the ball from hitting the goal, after a sharp shot by Steven Gerrard in the 60th minute of play. When Steven Gerrard came up free with the goalie in the 67th minute, the Malmö FF fans jumped to their feet. But the shot missed the goal by a fraction of an inch, and the fans sat back down disappointed that Steven Gerrard couldn't finish the play. Johan Hök didn't have a chance when a screaming shot from Pär Sefastsson went, in the 69th minute, to the upper right corner, 1-5 was the resulting score. Johan Hök was out of position in the 80 minute of play, and Steven Gerrard capitalized on the mistake with a soft shot into the goal. Steven Gerrard really showed his touch with that goal: 1-7. Red Army FC's Johan Hök proved his good apprehension of play when he, in the 87th minute of the match, managed to save Red Army FC from getting a goal against them. The audience thought a goal was coming when Pär Sefastsson got free with Johan Hök in the 89th minute, but the goalkeeper managed to catch the ball with a huge effort. In the 91st minute of the game Bengt Kruse made a throw-in which Pär Sefastsson played forward. Pär Sefastsson scored 1-8 in the 92nd match minute with a shot that went into the goal to the right of Johan Hök, who was just a little too slow in reacting to the shot. The audience thought a goal was coming when Urban Olofsson got free with Johan Hök in the 96th minute, but the goalkeeper managed to catch the ball with a huge effort. Malmö FF played a much better game than Red Army FC and deserved their victory. The Red Army FC players were clearly disappointed as they left the ground.
