Matthias Wennerlund lost his temper 18 minutes into the game and shoved another player to the ground. He was immediately shown a red card. When Sten Abrahamsson came up free with the goalie in the 24th minute, the Gothenburg Yankees fans jumped to their feet. But the shot missed the goal by a fraction of an inch, and the fans sat back down disappointed that Sten Abrahamsson couldn't finish the play. Gothenburg Yankees's Hermínio Senna proved his good apprehension of play when he, in the 25th minute of the match, managed to save Gothenburg Yankees from getting a goal against them. In the 26th minute Stig-Arne Fernström shot on, it seemed, an open goal, but Jan-Erik Biörkquist saw the ball coming and threw himself on it before it passed the goal line. 28 minutes into the game, Gothenburg Yankees's Sten Abrahamsson nearly tore a hole in the net with a booming shot. Jan-Erik Biörkquist made a valiant effort, but he could not reach the ball in time, 0-4. Slottsbron's Jan-Erik Biörkquist played magnificently when he managed to stop the ball from hitting the goal, after a sharp shot by Stig-Arne Fernström in the 33rd minute of play. Hermínio Senna showed brilliant goalkeeper skills when he caught the ball after a hard shot from Georg Kellman in the 36th minute of the match. In the 38th minute Sten Abrahamsson shot on, it seemed, an open goal, but Jan-Erik Biörkquist saw the ball coming and threw himself on it before it passed the goal line. Stig-Arne Fernström fired away a screaming shot towards the goal in the 39th minute, but the shot went just over the crossbar without Jan-Erik Biörkquist having to interfere. In the 42nd minute, Edvin Olsson hit a crossing free kick to the open man running down the field. Jan-Erik Biörkquist made a wonderful reflex save on a shot from Sten Abrahamsson in the 45th minute of play. Jan-Erik Biörkquist took care of the ball after a well-directed shot from Stig-Arne Fernström, even though the ball almost passed him on his left side. Gothenburg Yankees's Jonas Larsson suffered a concussion after 47 minutes and had to leave the field. After a rather tough play, Slottsbron's Georg Kellman got a free kick in the 48th minute.

Both teams looked relatively alert before the second half when the referee blew his whistle to tell Stefan Löfgren to make the kick off. In the 55th match minute, Gothenburg Yankees was awarded a freekick, the ball was picked up by Gabriel Lundqvist to maneuver through the defense. Josef Back took a chance and fired a shot far from the goal in the 56th minute, but it turned out to be a dangerous situation for Hermínio Senna. Gothenburg Yankees's goalkeeper really had to stretch himself to stop the ball from crossing the goal line. In the 60th minute Stig-Arne Fernström shot on, it seemed, an open goal, but Jan-Erik Biörkquist saw the ball coming and threw himself on it before it passed the goal line. 62 minutes into the match, Joacim Brenner dribbled the ball past the defender and swiftly kicked the ball to the left of Jan-Erik Biörkquist, 0-5. The supporters of Slottsbron booed when Gothenburg Yankees was adjudged a doubtful freekick after 69 match minutes in a wonderful position. Stig-Arne Fernström didn't get a good kick on the ball. 73 minutes into the match Sten Abrahamsson climbed in front of goal and pressed up 0-6 in the right cross behind a totally surprised Jan-Erik Biörkquist. Sten Abrahamsson could have scored with his fast shot on goal in the 85th minute of the match, but Jan-Erik Biörkquist made a huge save. The supporters of Gothenburg Yankees booed when Slottsbron was adjudged a doubtful freekick after 86 match minutes in a wonderful position. Josef Back didn't get a good kick on the ball. Sten Abrahamsson received a nice pass in the box and took a hard shot in the 88th minute. Jan-Erik Biörkquist tensed up and prepared to dive, but the shot went over the goal with him having to interfere. 0-7 came in the 91st minute when Karl-Magnus Andreasson all by himself managed to get straight through the defense and place the ball into the net to the right of Jan-Erik Biörkquist. Jan-Erik Biörkquist showed his good apprehension of the play when he made a fantastic save on a shot from Erik Östman, who was totally free with the ball in the 94th minute. Joacim Brenner's shot straight on target was not completely harmless. The ball had pretty good speed, but Jan-Erik Biörkquist firmly grabbed it by the left post. When the match was over Gothenburg Yankees could go home with a victory in their luggage, having controlled the game far better than Slottsbron throughout the match.
