The crowd had been anticipating this game for weeks and the excitement in the stadium was easily visible. Marius Multeanu recieved an excellent pass in front of the goal in the 47th minute. Unfortunately, he received the ball on his off foot and could only manage a weak shot that went over the goal. The crowd was extremely unhappy with the home team's performance in the first half. They were losing 1-2.

Both teams looked relatively alert before the second half when the referee blew his whistle to tell Franklin Amaral to make the kick off. If Franklin Amaral had kept his shot down it would have been a goal in the 53rd minute. The ball went over the crossbar and out instead. A hard shot 54 in the game by Marius Multeanu from a close distance when the talented Carl Albäck managed to make a qualified save. Assyrian's players were relieved. In the 59th match minute, Assyrian was awarded a freekick, the ball was picked up by Gunnar Svanberg to maneuver through the defense. If Marius Multeanu had kept his shot down it would have been a goal in the 62nd minute. The ball went over the crossbar and out instead. Marius Multeanu fired away a screaming shot towards the goal in the 66th minute, but the shot went just over the crossbar without Carl Albäck having to interfere. 73 minutes into the match, Manchester United FC's goal looked a bit too open when Gunnar Linberg came free, but Karl-Åke Fernström reached the ball before it rolled over the goal line. Assyrian's Carl Albäck played magnificently when he managed to stop the ball from hitting the goal, after a sharp shot by Franklin Amaral in the 74th minute of play. Carl Albäck stood somewhat misplaced when Franklin Amaral came free in front of goal and shot 1-4 to the left of him in the 75 minute. The audience thought a goal was coming when Marius Multeanu got free with Carl Albäck in the 85th minute, but the goalkeeper managed to catch the ball with a huge effort. If Franklin Amaral had kept his shot down it would have been a goal in the 88th minute. The ball went over the crossbar and out instead. The Assyrian fans had already started to leave before the final whistle blew. Manchester United FC were clearly better and deserved to take the win.
