The crowd had been anticipating this game for weeks and the excitement in the stadium was easily visible. After a rather tough play, Pilgrimstad FF's Stefan Lekberg got a free kick in the 3rd minute. After some fancy dribbling in the 4th minute, Fritz Vesterberg managed to get in a good position for a shot. Real Madrid C.F.'s supporters rose to their feet, but Fritz Vesterberg was a bit off balance and shot the ball just wide of the left post. Börje Beneth breathed a sigh of relief and went to take the goal kick. Börje Beneth came out of the goal in the 6th minute to try and stop a shot by Real Madrid C.F.'s Jack Vaabenfelt. But to his dismay, Jack Vaabenfelt quickly shot the ball in between his legs and into the goal making it 0-1. Börje Beneth didn't have a chance when a screaming shot from Magne Kuse went, in the 10th minute, to the upper right corner, 0-2 was the resulting score. When Magne Kuse came up free with the goalie in the 13th minute, the Real Madrid C.F. fans jumped to their feet. But the shot missed the goal by a fraction of an inch, and the fans sat back down disappointed that Magne Kuse couldn't finish the play. If Jack Vaabenfelt had kept his shot down it would have been a goal in the 17th minute. The ball went over the crossbar and out instead. Real Madrid C.F.'s Ingemar Eriksson proved his good apprehension of play when he, in the 19th minute of the match, managed to save Real Madrid C.F. from getting a goal against them. A sloppy throw-in by Per-Oskar Lindsten in the 24th minute of the game went astray and was snapped up by Real Madrid C.F.'s Jakob Högström. After 35 played minutes Pilgrimstad FF got a freekick which was hit by Ian Kvick. After some fancy dribbling in the 39th minute, Elliott Hermansson managed to get in a good position for a shot. Pilgrimstad FF's supporters rose to their feet, but Elliott Hermansson was a bit off balance and shot the ball just wide of the left post. Ingemar Eriksson breathed a sigh of relief and went to take the goal kick. Ingemar Eriksson stood for a superb save when he managed to get hold of Eskil Zachrisson's shot from short distance in the 41st minute. After the first half Real Madrid C.F. were leading 0-3. They had played with great self confidence throughout the first half and fully deserved their lead.
When the second half was about to start, both teams quickly lined up and Jack Vaabenfelt made a kick off. The audience thought a goal was coming when Jack Vaabenfelt got free with Börje Beneth in the 57th minute, but the goalkeeper managed to catch the ball with a huge effort. Through an outstanding action, after 58 minutes, Börje Beneth successfully got his hands on the ball before it slid into the goal at the right post. Börje Beneth showed brilliant goalkeeper skills when he caught the ball after a hard shot from Magne Kuse in the 63rd minute of the match. If Magne Kuse had kept his shot down it would have been a goal in the 70th minute. The ball went over the crossbar and out instead. Thanks to some nice foot action and superb ball handling Eskil Zachrisson in the 79th minute a chance for a shot on goal. With an extended leg and a bit of luck Ingemar Eriksson prevented the ball from getting in the gole. With a little luck, Pilgrimstad FF's Börje Beneth got control of the ball when Jack Vaabenfelt tried to sneak it across the goal line. A collision led to Real Madrid C.F. getting a freekick after 86 minutes play. Jack Vaabenfelt hit a great ball. Ingemar Eriksson made a wonderful reflex save on a shot from Elliott Hermansson in the 87th minute of play. An unexpectedly hard shot by Eskil Zachrisson in the 90th minute of play forced Real Madrid C.F.'s goalkeeper Ingemar Eriksson to throw himself to the left, to be able to save the ball. Elliott Hermansson hit a great freekick 95 minutes into the match. The Pilgrimstad FF fans had already started to leave before the final whistle blew. Real Madrid C.F. were clearly better and deserved to take the win.
