Spectators: 6641 (Terracing: 5000, Seating: 1641, VIP seats: 0) Algutsrum IF's Göran Rosin started the match with a crisp pass. The crowd had been anticipating this game for weeks and the excitement in the stadium was easily visible. After having played for 3 minutes, Göran Rosin managed to get in a good position for a shot on goal. Algutsrum IF's supporters crossed their fingers, but Göran Rosin was, after a quick turn that froze the defenders, out of balance and shot the ball just to the right of the goal. An unexpected shot in the 4th minute by Göran Rosin got the crowd on their feet, but to their dismay it went out on the left side. Erland Näfver charged in rather forcefully in the 5th minute of the match, and managed to knock his opponent down. The referee showed Erland Näfver the yellow card, and asked the players to shake hands before continuing play. In the 6th match minute, Vänersborg was awarded a freekick, the ball was picked up by Erland Näfver to maneuver through the defense. Sigvard Hagström made a wonderful reflex save on a shot from Roger Bergendahl in the 11th minute of play. 14 minutes into the game, Göran Rosin cracked a shot to the right of the goalkeeper, 1-0. Sigvard Hagström was not in position, and could only watch the ball fly in. After 18 played minutes Vänersborg got a freekick which was hit by Göran Österlund. A collision led to Vänersborg getting a freekick after 22 minutes play. Erland Näfver hit a great ball. In the 34th match minute, Vänersborg was awarded a freekick, the ball was picked up by Roy Fristedt to maneuver through the defense. In the 38th minute, Henning Bengtsson ran past the defenders and hit a shot which went straight ahead into goal. Per-Arne Strömqvist was frozen by the shot and now it was 1-1. Kåre Bivall's late challenge caught a Vänersborg's player on the shin and left him crawling around in pain. The referee blew his whistle and produced the yellow card. Kåre Bivall helped the player get up and apologised. After 44 played minutes Algutsrum IF got a freekick which was hit by Kåre Bivall. In the 46th minute, Henning Bengtsson got an opportunity to score, but he didn't get a solid hit on the ball and ended up kicking it wide of the goal. A collision led to Algutsrum IF getting a freekick after 47 minutes play. Kurt Wassenius hit a great ball. The first half was very even, with the score at 1-1 when the whistle went for half-time. The players welcomed the break and quickly retired to the dressing rooms.

The wind increased when Henning Bengtsson made the kick off in the second half. A collision led to Algutsrum IF getting a freekick after 55 minutes play. Kurt Wassenius hit a great ball. In the 64thth minute of the game Henning Bengtsson who was perfectly placed tried to make a shot on goal, but Algutsrum IF's Per-Arne Strömqvist was lucky and managed to grab hold of the ball. After some fancy dribbling in the 72nd minute, Göran Rosin managed to get in a good position for a shot. Algutsrum IF's supporters rose to their feet, but Göran Rosin was a bit off balance and shot the ball just wide of the left post. Sigvard Hagström breathed a sigh of relief and went to take the goal kick. Sigvard Hagström took care of the ball after a well-directed shot from Daniel Sörman, even though the ball almost passed him on his left side. Algutsrum IF's Per-Arne Strömqvist played magnificently when he managed to stop the ball from hitting the goal, after a sharp shot by Henning Bengtsson in the 84th minute of play. 87 minutes into the match, Algutsrum IF's Roger Bergendahl sent off a blazing shot straight on target, a shot that Sigvard Hagström narrowly saved just below the crossbar. If Göran Rosin had kept his shot down it would have been a goal in the 91st minute. The ball went over the crossbar and out instead. Henning Bengtsson fired away a screaming shot towards the goal in the 94th minute, but the shot went just over the crossbar without Per-Arne Strömqvist having to interfere. When the referee blew the final whistle, you could see the dissatisfaction in the Vänersborg players' eyes. They were disappointed they hadn't taken more from the game.
