Spectators: 5000 (Terracing: 4000, Seating: 1000, VIP seats: 0) Dark clouds were building up when the players entered the field. None of the them looked very eager to play. Gervasio Baltanas started the match with the kick off. Elliot Ekström kicked well hit freekick during the 4th minute of the match. An unexpectedly hard shot by Billy Lindgren in the 5th minute of play forced IFK Göteborg's goalkeeper Rikard Eliasson to throw himself to the left, to be able to save the ball. After 13 played minutes IFK Göteborg got a freekick which was hit by Kåre Ljungberg. Patric Stålberg showed brilliant goalkeeper skills when he caught the ball after a hard shot from Jan Sundström in the 18th minute of the match. 19 minutes into the game, Gervasio Baltanas cracked a shot to the right of the goalkeeper, 0-1. Patric Stålberg was not in position, and could only watch the ball fly in. Patric Stålberg didn't have a chance when a screaming shot from Gervasio Baltanas went, in the 23rd minute, to the upper right corner, 0-2 was the resulting score. The referee was alert and spotted a serious foul by Per-Erik Bållström during the 27th minute. The player immediately received a yellow card. A collision led to Mariefred FK getting a freekick after 27 minutes play. Per-Erik Bållström hit a great ball. 28 minutes into the match, IFK Göteborg's Robert Walroth broke free and took a long shot that unfortunately flew wide. A fine initiative that could have resulted in a goal. When Billy Lindgren fell near the penalty area in the 30th minute he thought he would be awarded a free kick. The referee ignored Mariefred FK's protests and gave Billy Lindgren a yellow card for diving instead. Per-Erik Bållström's shot was meant for the net just under the crossbar, but Rikard Eliasson read the situation well and was quickly in position to make a wonderful save in the 40th minute of play. After some careless play in the IFK Göteborg defense, Per-Erik Bållström kicked a shot that curved into the net to the right of Rikard Eliasson. The IFK Göteborg fans voiced their displeasure as they felt that Rikard Eliasson should have stopped the shot. In the 46th minute, Roy Påk hit a crossing free kick to the open man running down the field. After the first half IFK Göteborg were leading 1-2. They had played with great self confidence throughout the first half and fully deserved their lead.

When the second half was about to start, both teams quickly lined up and Per-Erik Bållström made a kick off. An unexpectedly hard shot by Per-Erik Bållström in the 52nd minute of play forced IFK Göteborg's goalkeeper Rikard Eliasson to throw himself to the left, to be able to save the ball. After a rather tough play, IFK Göteborg's Elliot Ekström got a free kick in the 58th minute. The referee was alert and spotted a serious foul by Andréas Löv during the 64th minute. The player immediately received a yellow card. In the 64th minute, Andréas Löv hit a crossing free kick to the open man running down the field. Mariefred FK's Patric Stålberg played magnificently when he managed to stop the ball from hitting the goal, after a sharp shot by Gervasio Baltanas in the 68th minute of play. Gervasio Baltanas charged in rather forcefully in the 69th minute of the match, and managed to knock his opponent down. The referee showed Gervasio Baltanas the yellow card, and asked the players to shake hands before continuing play. Robert Walroth kicked well hit freekick during the 75th minute of the match. Rikard Eliasson showed brilliant goalkeeper skills when he caught the ball after a hard shot from Tom Mattsson in the 83rd minute of the match. Tom Mattsson sent away a hard shot on goal in the 87th minute, but the ball went just over the crossbar and out. A very good chance. Patric Stålberg made a wonderful reflex save on a shot from Vecdet Omural in the 90th minute of play.
