After 12 minutes of play Gislaved IK's Billy Hedström was too eager in his attempt to stop his opponent and brought him down. With that he got his second yellow card and was ordered off the ground. In the 13th minute, Billy Hedström hit a crossing free kick to the open man running down the field. 16 minutes into the match, Mattias Jonsson notched a goal, 1-0, to the right of Gislaved IK's Charles Abelsson. Charles Abelsson was clearly disgusted with the effort of the defense and let the defenders know about it. Christer Haegg fired away a screaming shot towards the goal in the 24th minute, but the shot went just over the crossbar without Charles Abelsson having to interfere. Charles Abelsson was out of position in the 34 minute of play, and Christer Haegg capitalized on the mistake with a soft shot into the goal. Christer Haegg really showed his touch with that goal: 2-0. Thanks to some nice foot action and superb ball handling Christer Haegg in the 38th minute a chance for a shot on goal. With an extended leg and a bit of luck Charles Abelsson prevented the ball from getting in the gole. If Mattias Jonsson had kept his shot down it would have been a goal in the 40th minute. The ball went over the crossbar and out instead. When Mattias Jonsson came up free with the goalie in the 45th minute, the good bye forever fans jumped to their feet. But the shot missed the goal by a fraction of an inch, and the fans sat back down disappointed that Mattias Jonsson couldn't finish the play. Gislaved IK's defense didn't have a chance, in the 47th minute, when Christer Haegg scored to the left of an out of position Charles Abelsson, making the score, 3-0. No-one was surprised that the home team were leading 3-0 at half-time.

The players of the away team seemed most concentrated when Ian Abrahamsson stepped up to make the kick off in the second half. In the 57th minute Mattias Jonsson shot on, it seemed, an open goal, but Charles Abelsson saw the ball coming and threw himself on it before it passed the goal line. With a couple of smart ball manuevers Mattias Jonsson in the 59th managed to get into a good position. With a left leg Charles Abelsson saved Gislaved IK from getting behind. 64 minutes into the match, Christer Haegg notched a goal, 4-0, to the right of Gislaved IK's Charles Abelsson. Charles Abelsson was clearly disgusted with the effort of the defense and let the defenders know about it. After some careless play in the good bye forever defense, Ian Abrahamsson kicked a shot that curved into the net to the right of Max Gustavsson. The good bye forever fans voiced their displeasure as they felt that Max Gustavsson should have stopped the shot. After a rather tough play, Gislaved IK's Frans Qvarnström got a free kick in the 83rd minute. Markus Pihlgren, 84 minutes into the match, dribbled the ball up the side of the field and decided to take a long shot at the goal. Unfortunately, the ball was poorly hit and landed closer to the corner than to the goal. Mattias Jonsson sent away a hard shot on goal in the 86th minute, but the ball hit the crossbar and went out.
