The crowd rose to their feet as Lerums IS's Petter Tunström slotted home a wonderful shot that went in to the left of Olof Andersson. That made the score 1-0 after 5 minutes of play. Douglas Waller fired away a screaming shot towards the goal in the 12th minute, but the shot went just over the crossbar without Olof Andersson having to interfere. An unexpectedly hard shot by Petter Tunström in the 15th minute of play forced Jörlanda IK's goalkeeper Olof Andersson to throw himself to the left, to be able to save the ball. In the 19th minute there was a penalty for Jörlanda IK. Torsten Högman stepped forward and shot the ball to the right of a diving Robin Bogren. 1-1. After a defensive mix-up in Jörlanda IK's zone, Douglas Waller stole the ball and had only the goalie to beat. Olof Andersson came out of the goal and Douglas Waller tried to chip the ball over his head. To his dismay, the ball went over the crossbar and out of play. Olof Andersson made a fantastic save in the 23rd minute, when Douglas Waller sent off a good shot on target. The supporters of Lerums IS booed when Jörlanda IK was adjudged a doubtful freekick after 24 match minutes in a wonderful position. Kurt Hellbom didn't get a good kick on the ball. Folke Fransson hit a great freekick 27 minutes into the match. Kurt Hellbom kicked well hit freekick during the 36th minute of the match. Olof Andersson made a fantastic save in the 40th minute, when Douglas Waller sent off a good shot on target. Kurt Hellbom recieved an excellent pass in front of the goal in the 43rd minute. Unfortunately, he received the ball on his off foot and could only manage a weak shot that went over the goal. Lerums IS's Douglas Waller got a good chance for a goal in the 47th minute, but he totally mistimed the shot and it went over the crossbar. After a very even first half the match was still tied. The players went to their respective dressing rooms to discuss the tactics for the second half.

The players of the away team seemed most concentrated when Petter Tunström stepped up to make the kick off in the second half. Thanks to some nice foot action and superb ball handling Douglas Waller in the 66th minute a chance for a shot on goal. With an extended leg and a bit of luck Olof Andersson prevented the ball from getting in the gole. Per-Olof Bjurström charged in rather forcefully in the 68th minute of the match, and managed to knock his opponent down. The referee showed Per-Olof Bjurström the yellow card, and asked the players to shake hands before continuing play. A collision led to Lerums IS getting a freekick after 68 minutes play. Olof Andersson was clearly disgusted with the effort of the defense and let the defenders know about it. It was no surprise that this one had ended in a win for the home team. Lerums IS had played much better football throughout.
