In the 10th minute, Gilbert Giliusson got an opportunity to score, but he didn't get a solid hit on the ball and ended up kicking it wide of the goal. Lennart Abrahamsson in the 11thth minute had a little luck and got a chance for a shot in front of the goal. Without hesitation aimed to the right of Emil Arhenius, who managed to lunge to the right direction and made a save. In the 14th minute, Sten Lidström sent off a long shot on goal, but the shot was nowhere near the goal and Hammarby IF's Jens-Åke Carlberg didn't even have to move. The ball went over the crossbar instead. When Gilbert Giliusson fell near the penalty area in the 59th minute he thought he would be awarded a free kick. The referee ignored Hammarby IF's protests and gave Gilbert Giliusson a yellow card for diving instead. Jens-Åke Carlberg made a wonderful reflex save on a shot from Arne Åkesson in the 66th minute of play. Emil Arhenius showed brilliant goalkeeper skills when he caught the ball after a hard shot from Lennart Abrahamsson in the 69th minute of the match. A collision led to Varnhem BK getting a freekick after 70 minutes play. Gunnar Sundström hit a great ball. Emil Arhenius showed his good apprehension of the play when he made a fantastic save on a shot from Gilbert Giliusson, who was totally free with the ball in the 72nd minute. In the 75th match minute, Varnhem BK was awarded a freekick, the ball was picked up by Felix Torsberg to maneuver through the defense. Alfred Hedlund's late challenge caught a Varnhem BK's player on the shin and left him crawling around in pain. The referee blew his whistle and produced the yellow card. Alfred Hedlund helped the player get up and apologised. The supporters of Varnhem BK booed when Hammarby IF was adjudged a doubtful freekick after 79 match minutes in a wonderful position. Arne Åkesson showed that you don't have to tear a hole in the net to score, 0-2. The referee blew the final whistle, and the away crowd roared, having watched Varnhem BK eke out a victory against a very well matched opponent.
