Michel Kellbom recieved an excellent pass in front of the goal in the 4th minute. Unfortunately, he received the ball on his off foot and could only manage a weak shot that went over the goal. Esbjörn Karlsson scored 0-1 in the 5th match minute with a shot that went into the goal to the right of Daniel Backlund, who was just a little too slow in reacting to the shot. 8 minutes into the match, The Dons's Per-Arne Bröms sent off a blazing shot straight on target, a shot that Stig Jonasson narrowly saved just below the crossbar. In the 9th minute, Per-Arne Bröms had to be helped off the field due to a pulled leg muscle. 9 minutes into the game, Jon Hydén was given a yellow card after he appeared to trip an opposing player. Gällivare's manager was livid on the sidelines, but the referee was unmoved and gave The Dons the free kick. After a rather tough play, Gällivare's Jon Hydén got a free kick in the 10th minute. Peter Kämpe's shot was meant for the net just under the crossbar, but Stig Jonasson read the situation well and was quickly in position to make a wonderful save in the 11th minute of play. Michel Kellbom received a nice pass in the box and took a hard shot in the 24th minute. Daniel Backlund tensed up and prepared to dive, but the shot went over the goal with him having to interfere. Esbjörn Karlsson fired away a screaming shot towards the goal in the 26th minute, but the shot went just over the crossbar without Daniel Backlund having to interfere. If Michel Kellbom had kept his shot down it would have been a goal in the 35th minute. The ball went over the crossbar and out instead. Luck had favoured the away team in the first, and they walked off with a 0-1 lead.

Both teams looked relatively alert before the second half when the referee blew his whistle to tell Esbjörn Karlsson to make the kick off. Aleksander Dahlquist kicked well hit freekick during the 53rd minute of the match. If Esbjörn Karlsson had kept his shot down it would have been a goal in the 56th minute. The ball went over the crossbar and out instead. The supporters of Gällivare booed when The Dons was adjudged a doubtful freekick after 62 match minutes in a wonderful position. Mark Kilstedt didn't get a good kick on the ball. An unexpectedly hard shot by Esbjörn Karlsson in the 63rd minute of play forced The Dons's goalkeeper Daniel Backlund to throw himself to the left, to be able to save the ball. Esbjörn Karlsson fired away a screaming shot towards the goal in the 67th minute, but the shot went just over the crossbar without Daniel Backlund having to interfere. Daniel Backlund took care of the ball after a well-directed shot from Esbjörn Karlsson, even though the ball almost passed him on his left side. After 71st play minutes Esbjörn Karlsson shot 0-2, a short shot which went by Daniel Backlund and just under the crossbar into goal. Per-Arne Stensson received a nice pass in the box and took a hard shot in the 77th minute. Stig Jonasson tensed up and prepared to dive, but the shot went over the goal with him having to interfere. An unexpectedly hard shot by Esbjörn Karlsson in the 79th minute of play forced The Dons's goalkeeper Daniel Backlund to throw himself to the left, to be able to save the ball. In the 80th minute, Peter Kämpe left the goalkeeper for dead before tapping the ball into the right side of the net. The The Dons fans were clearly happy with the effort and the scoreboard reflected the new score: 1-2. 84 minutes into the match, Gällivare's goal looked a bit too open when Peter Kämpe came free, but Stig Jonasson reached the ball before it rolled over the goal line. The Dons's Daniel Backlund proved his good apprehension of play when he, in the 85th minute of the match, managed to save The Dons from getting a goal against them. In the 96th minute, Gällivare's Esbjörn Karlsson dribbled the ball into the box and hit a shot with the outside of his foot, sending the keeper the wrong way. 1-3.
