The crowd had been anticipating this game for weeks and the excitement in the stadium was easily visible. After 3 played minutes Västra FC got a freekick which was hit by Billy Vall. Peder Mogren could have scored with his fast shot on goal in the 4th minute of the match, but Lars Granström made a huge save. Christian Lidman hit a great freekick 10 minutes into the match. Olov Ahlstedt's shot was meant for the net just under the crossbar, but Leif Viklund read the situation well and was quickly in position to make a wonderful save in the 12th minute of play. Olov Ahlstedt fired away a screaming shot towards the goal in the 17th minute, but the shot went just over the crossbar without Leif Viklund having to interfere. Valter Duset received a nice pass in the box and took a hard shot in the 21st minute. Leif Viklund tensed up and prepared to dive, but the shot went over the goal with him having to interfere. Valter Duset sent away a hard shot on goal in the 22nd minute, but the ball went just over the crossbar and out. A very good chance. 31 minutes into the match, Peder Mogren dribbled the ball past the defender and swiftly kicked the ball to the left of Lars Granström, 1-0. Olov Ahlstedt recieved an excellent pass in front of the goal in the 36th minute. Unfortunately, he received the ball on his off foot and could only manage a weak shot that went over the goal. After some careless play in the Sandviken defense, Valter Duset kicked a shot that curved into the net to the right of Leif Viklund. The Sandviken fans voiced their displeasure as they felt that Leif Viklund should have stopped the shot. The audience was convinced that Peder Mogren's extremely hard shot when he got free in front of the goal was going in, but Lars Granström was relentless in the 45th minute of the game. A collision led to Västra FC getting a freekick after 46 minutes play. Sten Alstedt hit a great ball.

When the second half was about to start, both teams quickly lined up and Olov Ahlstedt made a kick off. 53 minutes into the match, Västra FC's goal looked a bit too open when Peder Mogren came free, but Lars Granström reached the ball before it rolled over the goal line. A collision led to Västra FC getting a freekick after 53 minutes play. Vincent Ahlfors hit a great ball. In the 57th minute, Inge Siöberg ran past the defenders and hit a shot which went straight ahead into goal. Lars Granström was frozen by the shot and now it was 2-1. In the 61st minute, Sten Alstedt hit a crossing free kick to the open man running down the field. 62 minutes into the game, Sandviken's Inge Siöberg nearly tore a hole in the net with a booming shot. Lars Granström made a valiant effort, but he could not reach the ball in time, 3-1. The supporters of Sandviken booed when Västra FC was adjudged a doubtful freekick after 67 match minutes in a wonderful position. Vincent Ahlfors didn't get a good kick on the ball. Peder Mogren hit a great freekick 71 minutes into the match. With a little luck, Sandviken's Leif Viklund got control of the ball when Valter Duset tried to sneak it across the goal line. Lars Granström showed brilliant goalkeeper skills when he caught the ball after a hard shot from Inge Siöberg in the 80th minute of the match. After 81 played minutes Västra FC got a freekick which was hit by Vincent Ahlfors. In the 81st minute, Inge Siöberg got an opportunity to score, but he didn't get a solid hit on the ball and ended up kicking it wide of the goal. Leif Viklund showed brilliant goalkeeper skills when he caught the ball after a hard shot from Olov Ahlstedt in the 88th minute of the match. With a couple of smart ball manuevers Inge Siöberg in the 96th managed to get into a good position. With a left leg Lars Granström saved Västra FC from getting behind.
