Christian Eklund walked up to take care of the penalty kick. He was aiming for the top corner, but the ball went just outside the post. After some careless play in the FC Esset defense, Bo-Erik Benett kicked a shot that curved into the net to the right of Malte Wall. The FC Esset fans voiced their displeasure as they felt that Malte Wall should have stopped the shot. After some fancy dribbling in the 34th minute, Andreas Pettersson managed to get in a good position for a shot. Mariestad's supporters rose to their feet, but Andreas Pettersson was a bit off balance and shot the ball just wide of the left post. Malte Wall breathed a sigh of relief and went to take the goal kick. Karl Odeen kicked well hit freekick during the 36th minute of the match. Malte Wall showed brilliant goalkeeper skills when he caught the ball after a hard shot from Mårten Högman in the 81st minute of the match. In the 88th minute, Mariestad's Bo-Erik Benett dribbled the ball into the box and hit a shot with the outside of his foot, sending the keeper the wrong way. 0-3. Marc Söderkvist took care of the ball after a well-directed shot from Carl Danielsson, even though the ball almost passed him on his left side. When the match was over Mariestad could go home with a victory in their luggage, having controlled the game far better than FC Esset throughout the match.
