The crowd had been anticipating this game for weeks and the excitement in the stadium was easily visible. Elof Matsson fired away a screaming shot towards the goal in the 5th minute, but the shot went just over the crossbar without Karl Arenius having to interfere. Jan Mickelsson received a nice pass in the box and took a hard shot in the 9th minute. Karl Arenius tensed up and prepared to dive, but the shot went over the goal with him having to interfere. If Valter Ekström had kept his shot down it would have been a goal in the 11th minute. The ball went over the crossbar and out instead. Kaj Odeen tried to clear up in front of the goal, but didn't succeed and rather the ball rolled into the own goal to the right of a despaired Karl Arenius. An unnecessary self made goal, 0-1 in the 15th minute. If Valter Ekström had kept his shot down it would have been a goal in the 18th minute. The ball went over the crossbar and out instead. In the 19th minute, Kent Nordström hit a crossing free kick to the open man running down the field. If Elof Matsson had kept his shot down it would have been a goal in the 20th minute. The ball went over the crossbar and out instead. After 23rd play minutes Emil Eliasson shot 0-2, a short shot which went by Karl Arenius and just under the crossbar into goal. But the shot missed the goal by a fraction of an inch, and the fans sat back down disappointed that Valter Ekström couldn't finish the play. Karl Arenius stood for a superb save when he managed to get hold of Emil Eliasson's shot from short distance in the 36th minute. 37 minutes into the match, Newton Heath's goal looked a bit too open when Valter Ekström came free, but Karl Arenius reached the ball before it rolled over the goal line. Carl Hedbom's shot was meant for the net just under the crossbar, but Karl Arenius read the situation well and was quickly in position to make a wonderful save in the 39th minute of play. After having played for 45 minutes, Emil Eliasson managed to get in a good position for a shot on goal. Borgholm's supporters crossed their fingers, but Emil Eliasson was, after a quick turn that froze the defenders, out of balance and shot the ball just to the right of the goal. The Newton Heath players were disheartened as they walked off the pitch after the first half. Borgholm were winning 0-2.

Karl Arenius made a wonderful reflex save on a shot from Jan Mickelsson in the 53rd minute of play. Jan Mickelsson sent away a hard shot on goal in the 55th minute, but the ball went just over the crossbar and out. A very good chance. An unexpectedly hard shot by Jan Mickelsson in the 57th minute of play forced Newton Heath's goalkeeper Karl Arenius to throw himself to the left, to be able to save the ball. Karl Arenius was a little too slow when Emil Eliasson got a fine hit on the ball which went right into the goal in the 60th minute. The score was now 0-3. Valter Ekström's shot was meant for the net just under the crossbar, but Karl Arenius read the situation well and was quickly in position to make a wonderful save in the 63rd minute of play. 64 minutes into the match, Inge Lund had an open shot that he just couldn't miss and scored to the right of Vilhelm Lundberg. Borgholm's manager could be seen yelling to the referee that Inge Lund was offside, but the referee ignored the protest. 1-3. Emil Eliasson struck a weak shot in the 67th minute. Karl Arenius didn't even have to move as the ball rolled over the line well wide of the goal. A wasted opportunity for Borgholm. After a defensive mix-up in Newton Heath's zone, Valter Ekström stole the ball and had only the goalie to beat. Karl Arenius came out of the goal and Valter Ekström tried to chip the ball over his head. To his dismay, the ball went over the crossbar and out of play. When Anthon Dahlqvist came up free with the goalie in the 72nd minute, the Borgholm fans jumped to their feet. But the shot missed the goal by a fraction of an inch, and the fans sat back down disappointed that Anthon Dahlqvist couldn't finish the play. Elof Matsson fired away a screaming shot towards the goal in the 75th minute, but the shot went just over the crossbar without Karl Arenius having to interfere. In the 78th minute, Newton Heath's goalie took a deep sigh of relief after Emil Eliasson fired away a hard shot that went just outside the left post. If Jan Mickelsson had kept his shot down it would have been a goal in the 80th minute. The ball went over the crossbar and out instead. Karl Arenius showed brilliant goalkeeper skills when he caught the ball after a hard shot from Valter Ekström in the 81st minute of the match. Borgholm's attack was well implemented in the 83rd minute, but when Emil Eliasson was about to shoot he didn't get a good hit on the ball and it hit the crossbar and flew over. Goal Kick. The audience thought a goal was coming when Emil Eliasson got free with Karl Arenius in the 84th minute, but the goalkeeper managed to catch the ball with a huge effort. Valter Ekström fired away a screaming shot towards the goal in the 87th minute, but the shot went just over the crossbar without Karl Arenius having to interfere. With a couple of smart ball manuevers Emil Eliasson in the 92nd managed to get into a good position. With a left leg Karl Arenius saved Newton Heath from getting behind. When the final whistle sounded Borgholm left the ground with the victory after a much better performance than Newton Heath.
