Christer Vestberg was not in position, and could only watch the ball fly in. With a couple of smart ball manuevers Birger Sandwall in the 17th managed to get into a good position. With a left leg Christer Vestberg saved ÖstersIF from getting behind. After some careless play in the ÖstersIF defense, Birger Sandwall kicked a shot that curved into the net to the right of Christer Vestberg. The ÖstersIF fans voiced their displeasure as they felt that Christer Vestberg should have stopped the shot. After some fancy dribbling in the 22nd minute, Aleksander Bergström managed to get in a good position for a shot. Fågelfors's supporters rose to their feet, but Aleksander Bergström was a bit off balance and shot the ball just wide of the left post. Christer Vestberg breathed a sigh of relief and went to take the goal kick. 25 minutes into the match, ÖstersIF's goal looked a bit too open when Birger Sandwall came free, but Christer Vestberg reached the ball before it rolled over the goal line. Jens-Erik Blomkvist made a wonderful reflex save on a shot from Sten Finman in the 44th minute of play. Birger Sandwall sent away a hard shot on goal in the 45th minute, but the ball went just over the crossbar and out. A very good chance. Paul Nyberg fired away a screaming shot towards the goal in the 47th minute, but the shot went just over the crossbar without Christer Vestberg having to interfere. Disappointed in the 1-3 score, the home team went to the dressing room to adjust tactics for the second half.

The players of the away team seemed most concentrated when Birger Sandwall stepped up to make the kick off in the second half. Christer Linqvist succeeded in the game's 53rd minute to shoot an unreachable shot under the crossbar and scored - 1-4. The supporters of Fågelfors booed when ÖstersIF was adjudged a doubtful freekick after 83 match minutes in a wonderful position. Henry Valrot didn't get a good kick on the ball.
