One of Gustafs:s players had nearly got his shirt torn off by an opponent while getting free in front of Ekeby RK:s goal. Rune Stenqvist's late challenge caught a Ekeby RK's player on the shin and left him crawling around in pain. The referee blew his whistle and produced the yellow card. Rune Stenqvist helped the player get up and apologised. Isac Höijer received a nice pass in the box and took a hard shot in the 14th minute. Bertil Östman tensed up and prepared to dive, but the shot went over the goal with him having to interfere. In the 17th minute the ball was on its way in behind Gustafs's goalkeeper Rikard Törnblom, but with the help of a sacrificing defense, he could catch the ball at the crossbar. 19 minutes into the game, Kåre Strandberg cracked a shot to the right of the goalkeeper, 0-1. Rikard Törnblom was not in position, and could only watch the ball fly in. If Kåre Strandberg had kept his shot down it would have been a goal in the 23rd minute. The ball went over the crossbar and out instead. In the 24th minute the ball was on its way in behind Gustafs's goalkeeper Rikard Törnblom, but with the help of a sacrificing defense, he could catch the ball at the crossbar. After 27 played minutes, Ekeby RK's Jerry Björnberg shot from a long distance, and at first it looked like the ball was going into the goal, but the goalkeeper Rikard Törnblom came through and got his fingers on the ball before it flew over the goal line. He then quickly gripped the ball tighter before the forwards in Ekeby RK reached it. After 28 played minutes Gustafs got a freekick which was hit by Leo Snell. Ekeby RK's Bertil Östman proved his good apprehension of play when he, in the 33rd minute of the match, managed to save Ekeby RK from getting a goal against them. Kåre Strandberg received a nice pass in the box and took a hard shot in the 42nd minute. Rikard Törnblom tensed up and prepared to dive, but the shot went over the goal with him having to interfere. When Timmy Bergdal came up free with the goalie in the 45th minute, the Ekeby RK fans jumped to their feet. But the shot missed the goal by a fraction of an inch, and the fans sat back down disappointed that Timmy Bergdal couldn't finish the play. Kåre Strandberg recieved an excellent pass in front of the goal in the 46th minute. Unfortunately, he received the ball on his off foot and could only manage a weak shot that went over the goal. Even after changing tactics the home team jogged off the field with a 0-1 deficit. They would have to work harder if they wanted to turn things around in the second half.

Both teams looked relatively alert before the second half when the referee blew his whistle to tell Uno Ahlin to make the kick off. Rikard Törnblom made an important save on a dangerous shot by Kåre Strandberg in the 55th minute. Jerry Björnberg hit a great ball. Bertil Östman showed his good apprehension of the play when he made a fantastic save on a shot from Lars Kalfhage, who was totally free with the ball in the 58th minute. The supporters of Ekeby RK booed when Gustafs was adjudged a doubtful freekick after 66 match minutes in a wonderful position. Lars Kalfhage didn't get a good kick on the ball. Kåre Strandberg in the 68thth minute had a little luck and got a chance for a shot in front of the goal. Without hesitation aimed to the right of Rikard Törnblom, who managed to lunge to the right direction and made a save. A collision led to Gustafs getting a freekick after 71 minutes play. Leo Snell hit a great ball. 72 minutes into the match, Gustafs's goalkeeper Rikard Törnblom had to clear away a ball on his right side after a cunning shot by Kåre Strandberg. If Uno Ahlin had kept his shot down it would have been a goal in the 76th minute. The ball went over the crossbar and out instead. With a little luck, Gustafs's Rikard Törnblom got control of the ball when Kåre Strandberg tried to sneak it across the goal line. The Gustafs fans had already started to leave before the final whistle blew. Ekeby RK were clearly better and deserved to take the win.
