After some fancy dribbling in the 11th minute, Nils-Emil Apelqvist managed to get in a good position for a shot. Montrose United's supporters rose to their feet, but Nils-Emil Apelqvist was a bit off balance and shot the ball just wide of the left post. Axel Björkkvist breathed a sigh of relief and went to take the goal kick. After some fancy dribbling in the 15th minute, Nils-Emil Apelqvist managed to get in a good position for a shot. Montrose United's supporters rose to their feet, but Nils-Emil Apelqvist was a bit off balance and shot the ball just wide of the left post. Axel Björkkvist breathed a sigh of relief and went to take the goal kick. Axel Björkkvist showed his good apprehension of the play when he made a fantastic save on a shot from Börje Larsson, who was totally free with the ball in the 17th minute. Montrose United's Nils-Emil Apelqvist got a good chance for a goal in the 20th minute, but he totally mistimed the shot and it went over the crossbar. When Kalle Smitt fell near the penalty area in the 21st minute he thought he would be awarded a free kick. The referee ignored Segmon IK's protests and gave Kalle Smitt a yellow card for diving instead. Kalle Smitt hit a great freekick 21 minutes into the match. Axel Björkkvist took care of the ball after a well-directed shot from Harald Simonsson, even though the ball almost passed him on his left side. 30 minutes into the match, Segmon IK's goal looked a bit too open when Börje Larsson came free, but Axel Björkkvist reached the ball before it rolled over the goal line. In the 31st minute, Börje Larsson left the goalkeeper for dead before tapping the ball into the right side of the net. The Montrose United fans were clearly happy with the effort and the scoreboard reflected the new score: 0-1. Jesper Brovall received a nice pass in the box and took a hard shot in the 37th minute. Montrose United's supporters crossed their fingers, but Börje Larsson was, after a quick turn that froze the defenders, out of balance and shot the ball just to the right of the goal. In the 46th minute Nils-Emil Apelqvist shot on, it seemed, an open goal, but Axel Björkkvist saw the ball coming and threw himself on it before it passed the goal line. Disappointed in the 0-1 score, the home team went to the dressing room to adjust tactics for the second half.

The players of the away team seemed most concentrated when Börje Larsson stepped up to make the kick off in the second half. Nils-Emil Apelqvist could have scored with his fast shot on goal in the 60th minute of the match, but Axel Björkkvist made a huge save. In the 60th match minute, Segmon IK was awarded a freekick, the ball was picked up by Kalle Smitt to maneuver through the defense. In the 64th minute Montrose United were awarded a corner. Tom Dahlberg went to the cornerflag to take it. Börje Larsson struck a weak shot in the 69th minute. Axel Björkkvist didn't even have to move as the ball rolled over the line well wide of the goal. A wasted opportunity for Montrose United. Axel Björkkvist was out of position in the 70 minute of play, and Eskil Lang capitalized on the mistake with a soft shot into the goal. Eskil Lang really showed his touch with that goal: 0-3. After a defensive mix-up in Segmon IK's zone, Nils-Emil Apelqvist stole the ball and had only the goalie to beat. Axel Björkkvist came out of the goal and Nils-Emil Apelqvist tried to chip the ball over his head. To his dismay, the ball went over the crossbar and out of play. Montrose United's Börje Larsson was standing unmarked in front of the goal when he, in the 81st play minute, got the ball and easily drilled it into the goal. The crowd rose to their feet as Montrose United's Börje Larsson slotted home a wonderful shot that went in to the left of Axel Björkkvist. That made the score 0-5 after 84 minutes of play. Segmon IK's goalkeeper couldn't reach when Börje Larsson 92 minutes into the game got a good kick on the ball which found its way into goal just inside left pole. 0-6. The Montrose United supporters could be heard counting down the last seconds of the match. They errupted in celebration when the whistle blew, knowing Montrose United would go home with victory in their luggage after a match that easily could have ended differently.
