In the 9th minute, one of Ekeby:s players had the ball in front of the goal but got pushed and fell. The referee felt it was an obvious case and blew a penalty for Ekeby. When the match had been going on for 11 minutes, FC Tivo's Jerry Lind got an opportunity to shoot a penalty. He stayed cool and waited for the goalkeeper to move, before he confidently shot the ball into the goal, to the left of Dan Panțâru. Menno Heijer might have been able to make a better finish in the 13th minute when he tried to place a hard shot over Åke Sundberg. Instead the ball went over the crossbar and out. Menno Heijer ran back to his position shaking his head. An unexpectedly hard shot by Lars Hedlund in the 16th minute of play forced Ekeby's goalkeeper Dan Panțâru to throw himself to the left, to be able to save the ball. Karl Jakobsson recieved an excellent pass in front of the goal in the 17th minute. Unfortunately, he received the ball on his off foot and could only manage a weak shot that went over the goal. If Lars Hedlund had kept his shot down it would have been a goal in the 19th minute. The ball went over the crossbar instead. If Menno Heijer had kept his shot down it would have been a goal in the 20th minute. The ball went over the crossbar instead. Jerry Olsmann blasted a shot towards the goal in the 24th minute, but the shot hit the top of the crossbar and went out without Åke Sundberg having to make a save. Karl Jakobsson struck a weak shot in the 29th minute. Dan Panțâru didn't even have to move as the ball rolled over the line well wide of the goal. A wasted opportunity for FC Tivo. With a little luck, Ekeby's Dan Panțâru got control of the ball when Karl Jakobsson tried to sneak it across the goal line. When Jonas Sandberg fell near the penalty area in the 40th minute he thought he would be awarded a free kick. The referee ignored FC Tivo's protests and gave Jonas Sandberg a yellow card for diving instead. Jonas Sandberg hit a great freekick 40 minutes into the match. In the 47th minute, Arne Åkerström hit a crossing free kick to the open man running down the field. No-one was surprised that the home team were leading 2-0 at half-time.

The players of the away team seemed most concentrated when Lars Hedlund stepped up to make the kick off in the second half. Åke Sundberg showed brilliant goalkeeper skills when he caught the ball after a hard shot from Jerry Olsmann in the 54th minute of the match. A hard shot by Aykut Tükelalp from long distance, 57 minutes into the match, got Åke Sundberg's attention. Through a fast twist with his body, he could stop the ball from going in on his right side. If Karl Jakobsson had kept his shot down it would have been a goal in the 61st minute. The ball went over the crossbar and out instead. 69 minutes into the match, Ekeby's goal looked a bit too open when Karl Jakobsson came free, but Dan Panțâru reached the ball before it rolled over the goal line. After 70 minutes, Aykut Tükelalp mouthed his way into the referee's book. The tension between the Ekeby and the FC Tivo players grew even worse after the yellow card. The supporters of FC Tivo booed when Ekeby was adjudged a doubtful freekick after 70 match minutes in a wonderful position. Aykut Tükelalp didn't get a good kick on the ball. Ekeby's Dan Panțâru played magnificently when he managed to stop the ball from hitting the goal, after a sharp shot by Karl Jakobsson in the 73rd minute of play. Dan Panțâru took care of the ball after a well-directed shot from Lars Hedlund, even though the ball almost passed him on his left side. The supporters of FC Tivo booed when Ekeby was adjudged a doubtful freekick after 76 match minutes in a wonderful position. Aykut Tükelalp didn't get a good kick on the ball. Karl Jakobsson fired away a screaming shot towards the goal in the 83rd minute, but the shot went just over the crossbar without Dan Panțâru having to interfere. FC Tivo's fans were exulted and cheered after their team won in a match that could easily have gone the other way.
