In the 2nd match minute, Suffix If was awarded a freekick, the ball was picked up by Jens-Åke Mattsson to maneuver through the defense. 4 minutes in the game, Reine Kilström dribbled his way through the penalty area and after maneuvering past an opponent, drilled a quick shot at the goal. The ball looked like it was going in, but it was hit a bit too hard and flew over the goal. Reine Kilström could have scored with his fast shot on goal in the 10th minute of the match, but Jan Vase made a huge save. Karl-Magnus Torsberg showed his good apprehension of the play when he made a fantastic save on a shot from Tommy Möllgren, who was totally free with the ball in the 18th minute. If Jonny Nordin had kept his shot down it would have been a goal in the 19th minute. The ball went over the crossbar and out instead. In the 27th minute, Tommy Möllgren ran past the defenders and hit a shot which went straight ahead into goal. Karl-Magnus Torsberg was frozen by the shot and now it was 0-1. Karl-Magnus Torsberg stood for a superb save when he managed to get hold of Jonny Nordin's shot from short distance in the 30th minute. After a defensive mix-up in Sala's zone, Jonny Nordin stole the ball and had only the goalie to beat. Karl-Magnus Torsberg came out of the goal and Jonny Nordin tried to chip the ball over his head. To his dismay, the ball went over the crossbar and out of play. Tommy Möllgren recieved an excellent pass in front of the goal in the 45th minute. Unfortunately, he received the ball on his off foot and could only manage a weak shot that went over the goal. Sala's Karl-Magnus Torsberg played magnificently when he managed to stop the ball from hitting the goal, after a sharp shot by Tommy Möllgren in the 47th minute of play. Even after changing tactics the home team jogged off the field with a 0-1 deficit. They would have to work harder if they wanted to turn things around in the second half.

The hometeam waved at the audience when it was time for Mark Åkerberg to strike the kick off in the second half. 53 minutes into the match, Sala's goal looked a bit too open when Tommy Möllgren came free, but Karl-Magnus Torsberg reached the ball before it rolled over the goal line. After 54 minutes, Krister Valrot mouthed his way into the referee's book. The tension between the Sala and the Suffix If players grew even worse after the yellow card. After 54 played minutes Sala got a freekick which was hit by Krister Valrot. Tommy Möllgren sent away a hard shot on goal in the 59th minute, but the ball went just over the crossbar and out. A very good chance. After 61 played minutes Sala got a freekick which was hit by Stig-Ove Eliasson. After a defensive mix-up in Sala's zone, Tommy Möllgren stole the ball and had only the goalie to beat. Karl-Magnus Torsberg came out of the goal and Tommy Möllgren tried to chip the ball over his head. To his dismay, the ball went over the crossbar and out of play. Jonny Nordin sent away a hard shot on goal in the 64th minute, but the ball hit the crossbar and went out. A very good chance for a goal. Tommy Möllgren might have been able to make a better finish in the 72nd minute when he tried to place a hard shot over Karl-Magnus Torsberg. Instead the ball went over the crossbar and out. Tommy Möllgren ran back to his position shaking his head. After a rather tough play, Sala's Reine Kilström got a free kick in the 75th minute. If Tommy Möllgren had kept his shot down it would have been a goal in the 83rd minute. The ball went over the crossbar and out instead. Jonny Nordin sent away a hard shot on goal in the 85th minute, but the ball went just over the crossbar and out. A very good chance. 90 minutes into the match, Reine Kilström had an open shot that he just couldn't miss and scored to the right of Jan Vase. Suffix If's manager could be seen yelling to the referee that Reine Kilström was offside, but the referee ignored the protest. 1-1. In the 95th match minute, Suffix If was awarded a freekick, the ball was picked up by Joakim Söderqvist to maneuver through the defense. In the 96th minute Per-Åke Wennerberg shot on, it seemed, an open goal, but Jan Vase saw the ball coming and threw himself on it before it passed the goal line. When the referee blew the final whistle, you could see the dissatisfaction in the Suffix If players' eyes. They were disappointed they hadn't taken more from the game.
