Both teams looked relatively alert before the second half when the referee blew his whistle to tell Luciano Contratas to make the kick off. When David Wiklund fell near the penalty area in the 57th minute he thought he would be awarded a free kick. The referee ignored Fighting Irish Notre Dame's protests and gave David Wiklund a yellow card for diving instead. A collision led to Fighting Irish Notre Dame getting a freekick after 57 minutes play. David Wiklund hit a great ball. In the 64th minute, Luciano Contratas left the goalkeeper for dead before tapping the ball into the right side of the net. The Fighting Irish Notre Dame fans were clearly happy with the effort and the scoreboard reflected the new score: 4-1. The audience was convinced that Luciano Contratas's extremely hard shot when he got free in front of the goal was going in, but Michael Vester was relentless in the 70th minute of the game. When Luciano Contratas came up free with the goalie in the 83rd minute, the Fighting Irish Notre Dame fans jumped to their feet. But the shot missed the goal by a fraction of an inch, and the fans sat back down disappointed that Luciano Contratas couldn't finish the play. In the 90th minute the ball was on its way in behind Harestad's goalkeeper Michael Vester, but with the help of a sacrificing defense, he could catch the ball at the crossbar. An unexpectedly hard shot by Luciano Contratas in the 91st minute of play forced Harestad's goalkeeper Michael Vester to throw himself to the left, to be able to save the ball.
