Bengt Groth took care of the ball after a well-directed shot from Olov Pihlwall, even though the ball almost passed him on his left side. 24 minutes into the game, Olov Pihlwall cracked a shot to the right of the goalkeeper, 0-1. Bengt Groth was not in position, and could only watch the ball fly in. After 28 played minutes Becka FC got a freekick which was hit by Sture Törnblom. When the match clock showed 34 minutes, the score became 0-2 when Olov Pihlwall sped through Green & Black Gothenburg's defense and sent away a curving shot that went into the net to the right of Bengt Groth. Tommy Örnberg fired away a screaming shot towards the goal in the 39th minute, but the shot went just over the crossbar without Bengt Groth having to interfere. 42 minutes into the match, Green & Black Gothenburg's goal looked a bit too open when Tommy Örnberg came free, but Bengt Groth reached the ball before it rolled over the goal line. After the first half Becka FC were leading 0-2. They had played with great self confidence throughout the first half and fully deserved their lead.

When the second half was about to start, both teams quickly lined up and Tommy Örnberg made a kick off. When Olov Pihlwall came up free with the goalie in the 54th minute, the Becka FC fans jumped to their feet. But the shot missed the goal by a fraction of an inch, and the fans sat back down disappointed that Olov Pihlwall couldn't finish the play. Green & Black Gothenburg's Bengt Groth played magnificently when he managed to stop the ball from hitting the goal, after a sharp shot by Tommy Örnberg in the 59th minute of play. The referee was alert and spotted a serious foul by Kristian Vennerberg during the 59th minute. The player immediately received a yellow card. After a rather tough play, Becka FC's Kalle Göransson got a free kick in the 83rd minute. Green & Black Gothenburg's defense didn't have a chance, in the 85th minute, when Tommy Örnberg scored to the left of an out of position Bengt Groth, making the score, 0-3. After a defensive mix-up in Green & Black Gothenburg's zone, Olov Pihlwall stole the ball and had only the goalie to beat. Bengt Groth came out of the goal and Olov Pihlwall tried to chip the ball over his head. To his dismay, the ball went over the crossbar and out of play. Sakarias Thidén fired away a screaming shot towards the goal in the 97th minute, but the shot went just over the crossbar without Bengt Groth having to interfere. The Becka FC supporters could be heard counting down the last seconds of the match. They errupted in celebration when the whistle blew, knowing Becka FC would go home with victory in their luggage after a match that easily could have ended differently.
