The crowd had been anticipating this game for weeks and the excitement in the stadium was easily visible. Morgan Anundsson recieved an excellent pass in front of the goal in the 4th minute. Unfortunately, he received the ball on his off foot and could only manage a weak shot that went over the goal. In the 9th minute Bo Lindman shot on, it seemed, an open goal, but Sven-Arne Strömberg saw the ball coming and threw himself on it before it passed the goal line. Viggo Hägglund made a wonderful reflex save on a shot from Alfred Melander in the 14th minute of play. When the match clock showed 14 minutes, the score became 0-1 when Alfred Melander sped through FC Socol's defense and sent away a curving shot that went into the net to the right of Viggo Hägglund. Sören Bergendahl's late challenge caught a FC Socol's player on the shin and left him crawling around in pain. The referee blew his whistle and produced the yellow card. Sören Bergendahl helped the player get up and apologised. After recieving a nice pass, FC Socol's Mattias Holm tried to score from far away in the 21st minute, but the ball went over the crossbar. 24 minutes into the match, Aleksander Salqvist notched a goal, 1-1, to the right of Motala's Sven-Arne Strömberg. Sven-Arne Strömberg was clearly disgusted with the effort of the defense and let the defenders know about it. If Alfred Melander had kept his shot down it would have been a goal in the 28th minute. The ball went over the crossbar and out instead. If Maximilian Drake had kept his shot down it would have been a goal in the 30th minute. The ball went over the crossbar and out instead. 33 minutes into the match, Alfred Melander had an open shot that he just couldn't miss and scored to the right of Viggo Hägglund. FC Socol's manager could be seen yelling to the referee that Alfred Melander was offside, but the referee ignored the protest. 1-2. 37 minutes into the match, FC Socol's goal looked a bit too open when Maximilian Drake came free, but Viggo Hägglund reached the ball before it rolled over the goal line. Bo Lindman received a nice pass in the box and took a hard shot in the 39th minute. Sven-Arne Strömberg tensed up and prepared to dive, but the shot went over the goal with him having to interfere. After some careless play in the FC Socol defense, Alfred Melander kicked a shot that curved into the net to the right of Viggo Hägglund. The FC Socol fans voiced their displeasure as they felt that Viggo Hägglund should have stopped the shot. Maximilian Drake received a nice pass in the box and took a hard shot in the 46th minute. Viggo Hägglund tensed up and prepared to dive, but the shot went over the goal with him having to interfere. After the first half Motala were leading 1-3. They had played with great self confidence throughout the first half and fully deserved their lead.

When the second half was about to start, both teams quickly lined up and Bo Lindman made a kick off. FC Socol's Viggo Hägglund proved his good apprehension of play when he, in the 56th minute of the match, managed to save FC Socol from getting a goal against them. FC Socol's Viggo Hägglund played magnificently when he managed to stop the ball from hitting the goal, after a sharp shot by Maximilian Drake in the 58th minute of play. A collision led to FC Socol getting a freekick after 59 minutes play. Michael Åkerman hit a great ball. An unexpectedly hard shot by Morgan Anundsson in the 63rd minute of play forced Motala's goalkeeper Sven-Arne Strömberg to throw himself to the left, to be able to save the ball. Bo Lindman's late challenge caught a Motala's player on the shin and left him crawling around in pain. The referee blew his whistle and produced the yellow card. Bo Lindman hit a great freekick 71 minutes into the match. 75 minutes into the game, Vidar Haegg was given a yellow card after he appeared to trip an opposing player. Motala's manager was livid on the sidelines, but the referee was unmoved and gave FC Socol the free kick. After a rather tough play, Motala's Vidar Haegg got a free kick in the 75th minute. 78 minutes into the game, one of Motala:s players got tackled near the goal, and the referee blew for a penalty. The audience was convinced that Maximilian Drake's extremely hard shot when he got free in front of the goal was going in, but Viggo Hägglund was relentless in the 87th minute of the game. After a defensive mix-up in FC Socol's zone, Maximilian Drake stole the ball and had only the goalie to beat. Viggo Hägglund came out of the goal and Maximilian Drake tried to chip the ball over his head. To his dismay, the ball went over the crossbar and out of play. In the 92nd minute, Bo Lindman left the goalkeeper for dead before tapping the ball into the right side of the net. The FC Socol fans were clearly happy with the effort and the scoreboard reflected the new score: 2-3. If Maximilian Drake had kept his shot down it would have been a goal in the 99th minute. The ball went over the crossbar and out instead. The away crowd were delighted with the way their team had played and cheered loudly when the final whistle sounded. Motala walked away with the win, even though the match was close until the end.
