Spectators: 6659 (Terracing: 5000, Seating: 1659, VIP seats: 0) Dark clouds were building up when the players entered the field. None of the them looked very eager to play. Sven Kihlman started the match with the kick off. After having played for 4 minutes, Joakim Glad managed to get in a good position for a shot on goal. Brandstorp IF's supporters crossed their fingers, but Joakim Glad was, after a quick turn that froze the defenders, out of balance and shot the ball just to the right of the goal. After 5 minutes, Pål Wik mouthed his way into the referee's book. The tension between the Målsryd IFK and the Brandstorp IF players grew even worse after the yellow card. Thanks to some nice foot action and superb ball handling Sven Kihlman in the 8th minute a chance for a shot on goal. With an extended leg and a bit of luck Birger Beneth prevented the ball from getting in the gole. In the 9th minute, Bertil Lindkvist got an opportunity to score, but he didn't get a solid hit on the ball and ended up kicking it wide of the goal. In the 11th minute, Sven Kihlman got an opportunity to score, but he didn't get a solid hit on the ball and ended up kicking it wide of the goal. If Sven Kihlman had kept his shot down it would have been a goal in the 13th minute. The ball went over the crossbar and out instead. Brandstorp IF's Birger Beneth played magnificently when he managed to stop the ball from hitting the goal, after a sharp shot by Bertil Lindkvist in the 18th minute of play. Målsryd IFK's Sven Kihlman got a good chance for a goal in the 19th minute, but he totally mistimed the shot and it went over the crossbar. Birger Beneth showed his good apprehension of the play when he made a fantastic save on a shot from Bertil Lindkvist, who was totally free with the ball in the 21st minute. Birger Beneth made a wonderful reflex save on a shot from Bertil Lindkvist in the 22nd minute of play. After some careless play in the Brandstorp IF defense, Sven Kihlman kicked a shot that curved into the net to the right of Birger Beneth. The Brandstorp IF fans voiced their displeasure as they felt that Birger Beneth should have stopped the shot. Joakim Glad's late challenge caught a Målsryd IFK's player on the shin and left him crawling around in pain. The referee blew his whistle and produced the yellow card. Joakim Glad helped the player get up and apologised. The supporters of Målsryd IFK booed when Brandstorp IF was adjudged a doubtful freekick after 29 match minutes in a wonderful position. Joakim Glad didn't get a good kick on the ball. Birger Beneth took care of the ball after a well-directed shot from Sven Kihlman, even though the ball almost passed him on his left side. Mark Ahlgren hit a great freekick 34 minutes into the match. In the 35th minute, Otto Grönlund sent off a long shot on goal, but the shot was nowhere near the goal and Brandstorp IF's Birger Beneth didn't even have to move. Birger Beneth made a wonderful reflex save on a shot from Sven Kihlman in the 39th minute of play. Sven Kihlman scored 0-3 in the 45th match minute with a shot that went into the goal to the right of Birger Beneth, who was just a little too slow in reacting to the shot. When Pål Wik was, once again, overly rough in his play he received his second yellow card and was ordered off the ground. 47 minutes had been played. In the 48th match minute, Målsryd IFK was awarded a freekick, the ball was picked up by Pål Wik to maneuver through the defense. Luck had favoured the away team in the first, and they walked off with a 0-3 lead.

Both teams looked relatively alert before the second half when the referee blew his whistle to tell Klas Pettersson to make the kick off. With a little luck, Brandstorp IF's Birger Beneth got control of the ball when Bertil Lindkvist tried to sneak it across the goal line. Bertil Lindkvist succeeded to score despite a near miss that spronge from right pole into the goal to 0-4 in the 54th playminute. Bertil Lindkvist came free with the goalkeeper in the 61st minute of the match, and shot straight on target. The shot was a little too simple and Birger Beneth could save by the left post. In the 62nd match minute, Brandstorp IF was awarded a freekick, the ball was picked up by Klas Pettersson to maneuver through the defense. When Klas Pettersson came up free with the goalie in the 65th minute, the Brandstorp IF fans jumped to their feet. But the shot missed the goal by a fraction of an inch, and the fans sat back down disappointed that Klas Pettersson couldn't finish the play. Joakim Glad received a nice pass in the box and took a hard shot in the 67th minute. Allan Kielberg tensed up and prepared to dive, but the shot went over the goal with him having to interfere. 69 minutes into the match, Målsryd IFK's Bertil Lindkvist sent off a blazing shot straight on target, a shot that Birger Beneth narrowly saved just below the crossbar. After 72 minutes of play, Målsryd IFK's Bertil Lindkvist made it 0-5 when he simply outclassed the defender marking him and hit a curling shot into the right side of the net. Birger Beneth was left in no man's land by his defense there! Bertil Lindkvist was extremely unlucky when he, in the 75th minute, took a shot that hit the right post and went out. Jens-Ola Friberger received a nice pass in the box and took a hard shot in the 77th minute. Birger Beneth tensed up and prepared to dive, but the shot went over the goal with him having to interfere. Brandstorp IF's Joakim Glad got a good chance for a goal in the 93rd minute, but he totally mistimed the shot and it went over the crossbar. Bertil Lindkvist's shot was meant for the net just under the crossbar, but Birger Beneth read the situation well and was quickly in position to make a wonderful save in the 96th minute of play. When the final whistle was heard the away supporters stood up and showed their joy. Målsryd IFK had managed to secure a win in what was a close match throughout.
