Västervik:s Mathias Björck showed great skill when he stopped Stig Tinglöf:s penalty. 17 minutes into the game, Walter Lundblad cracked a shot to the right of the goalkeeper, 1-1. Mathias Björck was not in position, and could only watch the ball fly in. FC Birka's Jan Abelsson played magnificently when he managed to stop the ball from hitting the goal, after a sharp shot by Lars-Erik Örtlund in the 21st minute of play. Mathias Björck took care of the ball after a well-directed shot from Walter Lundblad, even though the ball almost passed him on his left side. After some fancy dribbling in the 27th minute, Lars-Erik Örtlund managed to get in a good position for a shot. Västervik's supporters rose to their feet, but Lars-Erik Örtlund was a bit off balance and shot the ball just wide of the left post. Jan Abelsson breathed a sigh of relief and went to take the goal kick. Jan Abelsson didn't have a chance when a screaming shot from Jens-Ove Böcklund went, in the 29th minute, to the upper right corner, 2-1 was the resulting score. Walter Lundblad sent away a hard shot on goal in the 35th minute, but the ball went just over the crossbar and out. A very good chance. The home fans were very happy to see their team leading 2-1 at half-time.

The wind increased when Lars-Erik Örtlund made the kick off in the second half. Walter Lundblad received a nice pass in the box and took a hard shot in the 52nd minute. With a couple of smart ball manuevers Stig Klementsson in the 54th managed to get into a good position. With a left leg Mathias Björck saved Västervik from getting behind. In the 57th minute Andreas Haeger shot on, it seemed, an open goal, but Mathias Björck saw the ball coming and threw himself on it before it passed the goal line. The supporters of FC Birka booed when Västervik was adjudged a doubtful freekick after 67 match minutes in a wonderful position. Lars Bock didn't get a good kick on the ball. When Gustav Nordin fell near the penalty area in the 75th minute he thought he would be awarded a free kick. The referee ignored FC Birka's protests and gave Gustav Nordin a yellow card for diving instead. Gustav Nordin hit a great freekick 75 minutes into the match. Jan Abelsson took care of the ball after a well-directed shot from Jens-Ove Böcklund, even though the ball almost passed him on his left side. If Lars-Erik Örtlund had kept his shot down it would have been a goal in the 78th minute. The ball went over the crossbar and out instead. Jan Abelsson showed his good apprehension of the play when he made a fantastic save on a shot from Lars-Erik Örtlund, who was totally free with the ball in the 80th minute. Lars-Erik Örtlund sent away a hard shot on goal in the 83rd minute, but the ball went just over the crossbar and out. A very good chance. The referee blew the final whistle, and the away crowd roared, having watched FC Birka eke out a victory against a very well matched opponent.
