The crowd had been anticipating this game for weeks and the excitement in the stadium was easily visible. After some fancy dribbling in the 3rd minute, Frans Collin managed to get in a good position for a shot. Charles Town's supporters rose to their feet, but Frans Collin was a bit off balance and shot the ball just wide of the left post. Gösta Hermansson breathed a sigh of relief and went to take the goal kick. Frans Collin struck a weak shot in the 5th minute. Gösta Hermansson didn't even have to move as the ball rolled over the line well wide of the goal. A wasted opportunity for Charles Town. A collision led to Råslätt getting a freekick after 12 minutes play. Henning Bodin hit a great ball. If Sven-Erik Viklund had kept his shot down it would have been a goal in the 13th minute. The ball went over the crossbar and out instead. Kjell Bäckman fired away a screaming shot towards the goal in the 21st minute, but the shot went just over the crossbar without Tony Persson having to interfere. In the 24th minute the ball was on its way in behind Charles Town's goalkeeper Tony Persson, but with the help of a sacrificing defense, he could catch the ball at the crossbar. Sven-Ove Lindmark hit a great freekick 24 minutes into the match. Tony Persson took care of the ball after a well-directed shot from Markus Almstedt, even though the ball almost passed him on his left side. Frans Collin sent away a hard shot on goal in the 29th minute, but the ball went just over the crossbar and out. A very good chance. Charles Town's Frans Collin got a good chance for a goal in the 31st minute, but he totally mistimed the shot and it went over the crossbar. Kjell Bäckman took the ball and in the 38 minute, shot a rapid shot to the right of a surprised Tony Persson. Tony Persson dived to the right, and did manage to get a hand on the shot, but it still went into the right corner making it 1-1. Sven-Erik Viklund received a nice pass in the box and took a hard shot in the 46th minute. Gösta Hermansson tensed up and prepared to dive, but the shot went over the goal with him having to interfere. Sven-Erik Viklund sent away a hard shot on goal in the 48th minute, but the ball went just over the crossbar and out. A very good chance. The first half was very even, with the score at 1-1 when the whistle went for half-time. The players welcomed the break and quickly retired to the dressing rooms.
